Much better alternatives out there
By ,
The decor is very dated, the rooms, halls, and elevator are small and cramped, and there is an overall feeling of deferred maintenance. The staff was less than accommodating and downright illogical. We booked a room somewhat at the last minute. We had to go back and forth with them to get a confirmation. They have a 30 day cancellation policy that they failed to address adequately with us, nor did they offer us an alternative due to the timing of our reservation. It was a wedding and we had logistic issues and had to cancel. They were sold out and re-booked our room and suffered no loss, but would not refund our money. We ended up at a cleaner, newer, nicer hotel with wonderful service quite close by, and that hotel amended their policy of 72 hour cancelations up front, telling us they would extend us a 48 hour window. Much more logical and accommodating. We had a wonderful stay at the other hotel, don't bother with the Chesterfield.

The Chesterfield Hotel has a Leopard Lounge
By ,
The Chesterfield Hotel has a Leopard Lounge (headed by Executive Chef Gerard Coughlin) where you can dine, listen to great live music, in a boutique hotel atmostphere of sweet nostalgia. Have a glass (or bottle) of wine from the hotel's own vineyard in South Africa: Finlayson Cellars. I recommend the Sauvignon Blanc Bouchard Finlayson S. Africa: gooseberry aromas with touch of smoke and mineral character. I enjoyed a delicious one by the glass while listening to who I thought was Frank Sinatra singing (or at least a taped rendition of him), but it was actually Adam Austin at the piano with "I Did it My Way" and "You Believe in Me". Signature dishes include Bea Tollman's Egg Royale: three egg shells, each filled with a different topping (caviar, shrimp and smoke salmon); Bea's Chicken Soup with mini Chicken Pot Pie--this last dish is perfect for women (or men) shopping who want something not too heavy but filling and quick bite while shopping on nearby Worth Avenue stores. The dessert chef Mika makes an unbelievable Engish Toffee Cake: the cold creaminess of the vanilla is a perfect palate cleanser to the decadently sweet and rich cake which sits atop a pool of creme caramel sauce to die for. The warmth of the cake and its sweetness makes you smile, and warms the soul. Evian is water of choice. If you want to splurge a bottle of Taittanger Comtes de Champagne '94 will set you back $290 (but for a celebration like a wedding or a promotion, it's worth it).

Feels Like Home
By ,
My fiancé and I spent three days / two nights at the Chesterfield. From the time we crossed the bridge into beautiful Palm Beach to the day we departed we could not have been happier with our selection of hotel. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. It was obvious that they care and appreciate their guests. The location is superb with only a two block walk to Worth Ave and a very short drive or taxi to City Place and clubs. Beaches or just around the corner. The hotel was clean, quiet and stylish. The courtyard and pool areas are filled with lush tropical foliage. Our room was perfect if not a bit small (but one must keep in mind the hotel was built in the 1920's), but we found it well furnished and very comfortable. Every staff member greeted us with a warm smile and always asked if there was anything we needed to make our stay more pleasant. The Chesterfield felt like home. We will be making this our hotel of choice for every visit to Palm Beach. If status quo is what you look for in a hotel, stay at The Breakers, but if you truly want to be treated like an valued and important guest, stay at the Chesterfield.

Why did I stay here!
By ,
The check in was very cold and uncaring. I waited in the cigar bar for 20 minuets after telling 2 employees I was there. No one ever came to wait on me. Went into the Leopard lounge and the service was good. The room we were in was very, very small. We were deceived by the web site as to the size of the room. We paid much more to stay at this hotel than we do at the Ritz. There is no comparison in the quality, service and accomodations.

terrible
By ,
Chesterfield hotel How do I not love thee? Let me count the ways: 1.After prepaying and reconfirming my room twice, I showed up and had no room. 2.Lobby is in the bar so music is so loud I couldn't hear the receptionist and she refused to turn it down. 3.Hallways are so dark you can`t read the door numbers, which are mysteriously posted at the bottom of the doors where you cannot see them anyway. 4.I paid an extra $40 for a late check out and about 8-10 times people walked in my room confused about my checking out late, even after I told reception twice to tell her staff to stop entering my room so I could take a shower. (there was no lock to prevent them from coming in so I had to put a chair in front of it). 5.I called the front desk number only to get answering machines. 6.TV remote control did not work. 7.Toilet was broken and ran all night. 8.I was forced to let them xerox my driver:s license and put down a $100 deposit--even though I prepaid for the room. 9.They claimed I ate two candy bars at the mini bar, when I used nothing from it. need I say more?

Very nice but a bit stuck up
By ,
I would blame this on Plam Beach in General unlike other areas that I have visited that are upscale in the extreme Plam Beach seemed very snobbish. I'm sure that too the staff we were regular people, but the guests looked at us as if we were quaint. The rooms however are spectatcular and the food is good. The overall appeal of the hotel was very good and the staff extremely friendly and hrlpful.

Superb

The Leopard Lounge in The Chesterfield Hotel is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights in Palm Beach. The band, Trademark, is extremely versatile and the pianist and guitarist are the best around.

Leopard Lounge and Chesterfield - Palm Beach at its best
By ,
The Chesterfield Hotel is ideally situated near Worth Ave and all the great shops. Loved the elegant and lux atmosphere and the Leopard Lounge.
