Boatmans Sombrero Resort, Marathon

WE ARRIVED AFTER 10PM SO LOBBY WAS CLOSED BUT WE WERE ABLE TO STILL GET OUR ROOM KEY FROM THE WONDERFUL TIKI BAR THEY HAD AT THE RESORT! WONDERFUL SERVICE ROOM WAS VERY NICE THE PRICE WE PAID EVEN BETTER! LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING YOU WOULD WANT TO VISIT! LOTS TO DO AND THE LOCALS WERE GREAT TO US!! WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN! ROOMS VERY CLEAN WE HAD A KITCHEN WITH A LIVING ROOM A VERY LARGE BEDROOM WITH A BELCONY WE WERE RIGHT ON THE CANAL EVERY MORNING GOT UP AND SAW STING RAYS AND A COUPLE OF MANATEES SWIMMING BY!! VERY BEAUTIFUL!! ONLY DISLIKE THE BED WAS TOO HARD! (like two box springs put on top of each other)! THANKS SO MUCH DREW FOR MAKING OUR EVENINGS RELAXING!! (MANAGER OF TIKI BAR)

Rooms have been nicely renovated, location is excellent, staff is welcoming and helpful... beautiful pool area, tiki bar stocked with amazing and funny bartenders who remember your name and your drink....Fantastic rates, can't wait to come back next year :) Nothing to dislike!

Listed as a waterfront resort. Nothing is open and its sits on a canal. Horrid rooms. I could feel every spring in the mattress. The toilet ran all night long. The carpet is frayed and worn out. I paid $80 a night to stay in a condo resort and I was taken. Office hours are not convienent, check out was a nightmare. They tried adding extra charges for a resort fee. Talk about adding insult to injury. Noisy. Sits sort of across the street from a golf course that is being renovated. The streets were torn up and road crews started working at 6am every day. Would not go back, would not recommend, waste of money at any price.

Stayed same time of year in 2008 and was ok but not great. Could see overhaul of site being done and was told it would be completed by summer. Called for reservation for Dec 2009 and specifically asked for "handicap scooter accesible, downstairs, king or 2 doubles' pet friendly" Was assured all was available and given confirmation #. Arrived at night 12/23 and was assigned rm 125 by marina. I was very concerned to find they had my credit card # ON FILE from last year. Arrived at room to find 2 steps into room so not scooter accesible. Was told no other rooms so had to accept it. Could not secure glass sliding door. One window had 4" hole in glass that was covered over bu masking tape. Blinds over door had strips missing and control rod was missing. 2 rooms with double beds and a window a/c in each. one had such a screech it could be heard through out site. 2nd a/c vibrated some with fan on and when compressor kicked in it vibrated the entire building. No way you could stay in room with it on. TV remotes did not work. Phone did not work. Went to office 3 times in 2 days and requested service person to come fix above. When he did arrive he looked at 1 a/c, shook the panel, went outside and shook unit and then left with out any response. He did not return and it was not fixed. TV remotes were never looked at. The complimentery continental breakfst included, frozen french toast, bagels, poppy seed muffins, coffee, frozen OJ, margarine and artificial sour cream for bagels. Free Wi Fi was unsecured and every time I tried to log on I was hit by someone trying to pull information from my computer. When checking out I was charged a pet fee after being told on phone there was none and the person who was getting prices for rooms was being quoted $4000 less per night on the exact room as mine on the back side. Expected to stay 7 to 9 days and left after 3 days.

Dirty carpet, a toilet tank that didn't refill unless you fixed it each time you flushed, no coat hangers, seriously poor paint job, broken window treatment, no shampoo, and more. Look elsewhere

There are a couple of places in the area with similar names and they are not connected with each other. I was nervous we had made a reservation at this place when reading reviews, but soon realized I was looking at the wrong name. Sombrero Reef Inn is about 2 miles away, closer to the beach, and was a nice, small place. Both are in the Sombrero neighborhood.

The place is a dump. They have charged my credit card four different times and as the other review stated, they are not answering the phone. If you choose to stay, pay cash.

I went to this hotel in. The place really stinks! The staff are mean. They took the money i stayed for, and they double it! The orginal amount $265.36 but they took out of my acount $530.72. They will not refund my money! They will not pick up the phone! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

This place smelled like a trash dump. A/C'S stunk to High Heaven. Spent 25.00 deoderizing the room, service was minimul. Left after 3 days of 5. Never Ever Again

We just stayed there this past weekend!! Very nice location.. very nice hotel! Great price!! The pool is very clean as well, it even has a small tiki bar, super nice.. I was upset when I saw the reviews after I booked it.. but i took the risk and we went there anyways.. The good about this location is that has many fast food locations around, even a publix... very convenient!! I would recommend it to anyone!!
