Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Miami Airport, Hialeah Gardens

The room was nice and clean I like the fact that we got clean towels everyday. . The hotel is in walking distance to the mall and quite a few restaurants... lovely. The service at the in house restaurant want not too good and I did not really enjoy the breakfast. All in all it was good. We were able to organise a rental on the compound and ckecked our credit card balances through the on site ABM

Howard Johnson airport plaza hotel is one of worst hotels ever made first off they are no where close to the airport they are 30mins away ,they say that they have refrigerators and microwaves on the website but when you show up they say that you have to request one and that it is $10 extra , since there was no more refrigerators and microwaves available and no customer lounge in order to heat up food I had to go to the front desk and wait for them to stop ignoring me so that they can warm up my food and at times they was very rude and snotty about it and directed me to the restaurant who refused to warm up my food and was even ruder then the people at the front desk .when my boyfriend and I asked for directions somewhere they had no idea how to get anywhere and was uninterested in help us find out how to get here ,and when we called up the local transportation the reaction was the same. Most of the people we come into contact with all over Miami was stuck up ,snobby and had no knowledge of anything ,the airport shuttle driver made it his point to make me late for the last flight of the day and I ended up spending 12hours in the airport along with 50-100 other people including young children and disabled people . And the hotel along with the people at the airport did not care and charged me an extra $130 for the flight and $25 for my bag laughed in my face and had awful attitude ,and it was my birthday vacation/ charismas gift to go to Miami and the hotel and the people treated me like trash .

Well I recently came back home after spending 11nights there and it was a really good place. It was my first time there. It was better than other places I have been too. The room was excellent and we never wanted our room to be clean everyday. LOL. Although we put up the "Do not Disturb" Sign the maids always makes sure we have clean towels (in a plastic bag) waiting on the door. That is really sweet of them. The employees are very friendly and helpful towards everyone. The shuttle service to the shopping areas is my favorite. I enjoy the rides and shopping. The only disappointment we had was that we wanted a single for my cousin to sleep in but there weren't any due to the fact the hotel was full and they have ask us if we wanted another room. We didn't want to move and we were glad because we love the scenery with the cars moving along the freeway especially at night. We try our best for all of us to sleep and it work out great. Everyone who stay in the hotel during our stay said they have been coming for years and I realize the main reason why. It is a comfortable place and very friendly. I am going back next year

Didn't like anything about this hotel! Traveling with a group of 18 people and specifically booked this hotel because it offered shuttle service to the Port of Miami. Arrived at the hotel and nobody could give us any information about how to set up the shuttle. No information in the rooms either. If you're going to advertise this service, make sure your employees are aware of it! Ended up driving ourselves because even if there WAS a shuttle service, I have no doubt we would have waited three hours for it to pick us once we departed the cruise ship. Our room was dirty: hair all over the bathroom, crust all over the clock radio which didn't even work and it smelled awful. I guess you get what you pay for but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Got this place through Hotwire. Then read some negative reviews about the Customer Service and other things, so we were a little worried. But when we arrived, everything was fine. Front lobby was actractive and excellently done. Staff was very freindly. Room was good, although bathroom was nothing special. The only thing I didn't like was that they charged you to use the computers, the fee was low, but still it seems a little silly that they charged you for that. Denis Hosdil

Pros: - Price - Port Shuttle on-time only $15 - One employee was very helpful in getting us joining rooms - Airport Shuttle on-time, but should be more frequent then every hour and a half. - Clean linens Cons: - Restuarant service extremely poor - took 2.5 hours for lunch and 2 hours foor dinner. Impossible for four kids to sit still for a 2.5 hour lunch. Limited selection for free breakfast. - Check-in desk would not cash American Express travelers checks, would take payment with Amex travelers checks, but would hold Credit Card payment for two weeks until cleared. (Why carry Travelers Checks?) - Typical musty Miami hotel smell - Rooms not very clean

This was my 7th time in this hotel....as always, friendly staff, clean rooms, close to restaurants and malls, great location if you rent a car and drive to Downtown Miami, Sawgrass Mills etc.

I like alot of things about this hotel but mainly its location the hospitality of the staff and the rooms was really clean and the resturtant food just kept me asking for more. All in all i would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone. And also everything is in walking distance and the hotel provivde shuttle service.

The hotel was comfortable. Reservation takes longer than normal, probable it was a very hectic weekend. The continental breakfast was poor however; the rest of the facilities and service was great.

The hotel showed signs of wear, but all I wanted was a clean comfortable bed with breakfast at a good price for two nights, and that's exactly what I got. The staff were willing and helpful. The only glitch for me was a very long wait at reception at check in.
