Pricey, but beautiful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/11
My husband, baby daughter and I were visiting my brother for Thanksgiving and this was our second time at One Ocean. We absolutely love it. Prior to arriving, we received an email asking for any special requests. We mentioned that we would be bringing our 6 month old daughter. Upon our arrivial, there was a crib awaiting us, with all the baby accessories we could need (blanket, bottle cleaner, bottle dryer rack, baby shampoo, baby lotion, etc.). I agree that the additional fees are a bit much (although, they cannot help the taxes, that is just a Florida thing -- how do you think they get away without a state income tax? ;). The heated pool was also great. All in all, a great trip and we will return.

Beautiful place but inexperienced staff.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/11
There needs to be a security company that handles issues that arise at hotels. The staff is inexperienced in handling disturbances appropriately. As a result of a disturbance in a neighboring room we had management knock on our door and requested that we lower our voices due to the unsettled feel of that particular floor. That was absurd! Bathroom is ridiculously small but the decorators did a beautiful job with limited space. Pool area also very small! Very expensive for the tight spaces that guest have to deal with especially with small children crowding a resort style pool.

We highly recommend that you stay here!
By ET2010, 10/16/10
The customer service was far above service we've received at comparable resorts we frequent. The concierge service was a great surprise, and they were more than happy to assist us in any way possible. The staff was extremely courteous, and made us feel quite at home. The amenities were very comfortable, and housekeeping made sure to keep the room as clean as when we checked in. In addition, the 24-hour room service was extremely beneficial, and allowed us to dine at our leisure. Plus the proximity to shops, and local restaurants gave us a wide range of options during our stay. The only drawback to the stay was the bathroom size, which could have been bigger. We highly recommend that you come to this resort for your next family vacation, weekend stay, or couples getaway.

Beware of extra fees and taxes!!!
By Beverly, 7/20/10
I recenly spent the weekend at this hotel. I must say that is a very beautiful hotel and the staff is great. The room had a wonderful view of the ocean, nice comfortable bed, but the bathroom was very small. As I reviewed by receipt just prior to checking out I noticed all of these fees and taxes ($25 daily resort fee, then a tax on that fee, a bed tax, a room tax, the valet parking fee of $15 a day, etc). The taxes and fees along were approximately $65 per day, that is a lot of money when the rooms are already pretty expensive. Loved the hotel but a bit overpriced.........

Beautiful place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/10
Although this was a very nice and clean place to stay, I did not like that you had to valet your car or else find somewhere across the street to park. It was mandatory. The staff was definately at your servive if you hit the button on your room phone, but they did stand there and stare until you gave them a tip!! That was unprofessional. I shouldn't feel like I have to tip for toilet paper or ice. The outdoor pool area was awesome and the lounge chairs were so comfortable. Just remember, if you stay here, you need to plan on spending much more money than just your room cost for parking, daily hotel fee of $25, and service tips!!! It gets expensive.

Beautiful! Want to come back again & again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/10
The hotel is so pretty as is the area. Staff was so willing to help (must have done training or hired new staff-nothing like the previous reviewers mention!). Azurea has great food. Loved the Seafood Salad-BEST Fried Calamari I have ever tasted! The The Pulled Pork on cornbread is pretty amazing too. Spa Services are a little pricey but worth pampering . Docent fee was not bad at $25 when they stocked the fridge daily when asked, had internet services, steamed my clothes, etc.

Will never stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/10
Staff was unprofessional. Hotel has no class, and it's a waste of my time to even write further review.

Bad Expereince
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/21/10
Let me first start off by saying that your Hotel is absolutely beautiful and completely amazing the renovations made. I have lived in Jacksonville Florida for over 30 years and am very familiar with the Sea Turtle Hotel. Great Job with the work done there. However, I am extremely angry, disappointed and will be communicating to many people the horrible experience, I and my guest went through on New Years Eve 2010 at your hotel. I booked a King Suite for 12/31/2009 - checked in and then had my brother n-law and his wife meet us at the Hotel. We left the room and went out to Rag Times and Sun Dog Diner for New Years dinner. We then walked back to our hotel to spend a little time outdoors before wrapping up the evening. When we ended the night, my family followed us back to my room to collect there personal belongings and to my dismay, we had a manager or some sort of security telling us that we had made too much noise and that we needed to keep it down - as well as ask our family to leave the room immediately. I was horrified and during the same time this was happening, security was evicting someone in the room next to me. It was completely embarrassing and shocking! I can assure you, I will never be staying at your hotel and will be communicating my experience to as many people as I can. Since then, I have googled your hotel and have read customer comments and there appears to be a trend as to how your hotel handles situations = poorly. I also think that if your intent is to have a hotel designed for Extreme Quit / Zero Tolerance for socializing, etc. you should communicate that clearly - never did I think that during a major Football Weekend (FSU Game in Jacksonville), as well as, New Years Eve celebrations, that your Hotel would be running around harassing your guests.

No washcloths for 3 days
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/09
Stayed here three days for a wedding nearby. NO washcloths 3 days, told by housekeeping there were none.. asked a blonde housekeeper in the hall if I could have one.. she said No we have none..use a towel.. i tried my arms are weak, wrist was already carpal tunnel and then a heavy towel wet trying to bathe. Whoever heard of no washcloths.. they clean around everything.. like if your child has toothpaste on the counter they clean around it.. hidden fees of 25 a day for resort fees, which includes the snacks and a few drinks in the fridge which are CHEAP at best.. when asked for more they are stingy and bring a few hot drinks.. no ice brought you have to beg for it and then they come with a cooler outside your door and put you a little in your bucket. the resort fee does include pressing but they lost my sons' pants right when he needed them.. the bathroom is so small you can't turn around in it.. if you open the bathroom door it almost hits the commode. Docent introduced himself the first day when we got there WE never seen this man again. Was suppose to be at your beck and call.. instead of paying the 15 a day car mandatory fee just park two blocks away and send your hubby to get it.. much quicker.. Pool was so crowded everyday I tried to go down we never got to use it.. the hotel is also connected to publc access to a next door public beach but they all use the beach.. and it is a steady flow of all kinds of people, surfers, kids, locals, etc. never stops.. also, a older motel next door with steady traffic. It was a great location for walking to all the bars for my 26 year old and his sister.. they enjoyed two days of it.. third day they said was nothing going on and totally different and just drunks walking the streets all night . Walking to a Wal Greens nearby I was ran over by a local on some kind of industrial skateboard with huge wheels. I have lived to tell about it.. though my foot may never be the same. Also, bought some cheap washcloths for my last night.. left them and told them to use them. It was hot in our room when we got there and was only cool in the middle of the night.. yes, it was very hot days but when you are on a trip, vacation or like us in town for wedding events nearby you do want to come in and be COOL. If I were someone looking I might check out a Mariott nearby.

Not worth it
By Roger, 6/28/09
this "resort" was overpriced and pompous. the docents were almost ghosts, as I rarely saw them. The snacks were cheap and tasteless, and cost 25 dollars. the showers were small, the bathrooms cramped, and the hallways smelled like a high school locker room. I heard the restaurant was nice, but very overpriced, so I did not eat there. I really have no positive things to say about this badly managed property.
