OCEANFRONT AND INEXPENSIVE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/11
I liked that the hotel was on the beach and in walking distance to all the night clubs. Sitting right between 2 (5 star hotels). I got a new pillow top bed and the place is clean and inexpensive. Affordable South Beach Vacation!!!!

DO NOT BOOK THIS DUMP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/12/11
Spring Break should be fun and not an adventure into HELL!!! That's how the trip started at this hotel. Upon exiting the elevator to my room, the floor reaked of urine...things only got worse. The room was beyond filthy. The mildew smell caused my allergies to kick-in, but the mold on the wall was the last straw. The bed linen was dirty, the tub uncleaned, the outside street was cleaner than the carpet in the room. The bathroom was unsanitary and there was standing water in the hallway on the floor above us and leaking into the unit. When I complained I was told to talk to the manager. There were 12 people ahead of me waiting for him...he was of no assistance and said there was nothing he could do other than put me in a similar room on another floor. We left and found another hotel...luckily I had money to pay because they refused to refund my money.

Dont Stay Here- EVER
By Dosha, 2/19/09
THIS PLACE IS A DUMP!!! The photos on the internet are very decieving. We arrived to a very unfriendly, non-helpful staff. Check-in took 45mins. There was already 1 unhappy customer in line at the desk due to the condition of his room. (Oh how I wish we would have run!) But we had pre-paid part of the room because we booked it on the internet so we felt trapped. Not only was there no valet parking, we had to PAY $6 per day to park across the street in the parking lot because apparently this hotel has NO parking! Only 1 of the 2 elevators was working and it was soooo slow! It took us 10 mins to get up to the 5th floor to our room due waiting for the elevator. When we got into the room the carpet was gross with stains and dirt. I walked across the floor in socks and my socks were so dirty. The mattresses on both beds were caved in on the sides. There was water and rust spots all over the walls where there had been obvious leaks. There was no electrical outlet that worked in the bathroom. The door to the balcony had such a gap that you could feel the wind from outside blowing into the room. The AC was terrible and smelled when you turned it on. On the balcony the cover for the AC unit was off the hinge and hanging down on one side. The curtains were not on their tracks and therefore would not close properly so the room got hot during the day and then of course the AC didnt work. The TV was this side of a B&W and wouldnt even get reception for several of the channels. After the 1st night we complained and were told that we would need to speak to the Manager. He avoided us that entire day and the next until we checked out. Even after returning home, my husband tried to call several times and to date we have not talked to him. LOSER!!! We did call and complain to Days Inn corporate office who have since sent us a letter explaining how, "each is individually owned and operated and how they couldnt really do anything for us" So dont think you will get any justice there! We travel quite abit both in and out of the United States. This hotel was by far the worse place we have ever stayed. At present we are disputing the bill on our credit card because that seems to be the only way we can not be ignored by the owners of this hotel. And we have made a committment to never stay at a Days Inn again. We just look at it like, if Days Inn is not going to hold their owners to a certain standard, we will never waste our money and more important, out vacation time again!

South Beach Days Inn
Don't be fooled by the entrance into the lobby. It gets worse! The carpet was stained and dirty so bad that I would not walk on it barefoot, the elevator brokedown, the toilet overflowed and the bed mattress sagged into a small valley after I sat on it and I only weigh 140 lbs. We will never again try to save $ after our long weekend vacation in South Beach. We lasted at the Days Inn less then 10 hours. We checked out early the next morning and quickly found a much cleaner and slightly more expensive hotel on Collins. The extra 20 bucks a night was well worth it. Sleeping on the beach was my back up plan if we could not find an affordable room!

Great Beach!

We totally love the beach there. It is gorgeous. The hotel is older, but the rooms are clean and the service was great. We will definitely go back.

Good Location, but you get what you pay for
By Mike, 11/13/06
Several of the other reviews I read seemed like they set their expectations too high for this hotel. It is a two star hotel that costs less than $100 per night on south beach with an easy walk to Lincoln Road. That said, this place would be a great disappointment if I had paid $150 or above. But I didn't, I went for the best price for the location and I was relatively pleased. The Good: The location is great. The room was comfortable and decently well maintained. Everything worked and I had shabby but comfortable enough accomadations. The Bad: The staff, as many other reviews have commented on, is terrible, and I had low expectations. Additionally, they charge an extra $2 per day to have a safe in your room, an option you can't decline and it is not included in the price when you book online. Also, parking was a nightmare. You chose between the hotel's $18 per day valet service that leaves you spending a large amount of time waiting or paying a dollar an hour (in quarters) at the metered lot across the street, which filled up on Saturday night and left me driving around for another spot for quite a while. In the End: If you want a cheap place to crash in an excellent location, this is your type of hotel. If you are picky or discerning or are looking to be wowed, stay at the Mandrin Oriental for $500.00 a night, I hear its worth it.
