Great room- Great price!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/08
Pleasantly surprised by the room! After reading many reviews, was not sure whether to book here. Went for business during the last weekend in January 08. The room was a good size- with a separate living room and bedroom, decorated in a contemporary and stylish decor. The bathroom was nice and everything was very clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on. There were no funky smells. It appears to have been recently renovated (especially reading older reviews). Service was fine as well. They charged $4 for bottle of water they leave in the rm for you, if you drink it! The view on the bayside was gorgeous- but the windows do not open and there are no balconies, only patios on the 1st floor. The pool was great to hang out- and overlooked the bay as well. Overall, great place if you are looking for clean, attractive hotel, and spacious rooms, with reasonable rates. Very quiet too. 5 minutes from down town, 20 minutes to Ybor City (approx). I would happily stay there again if I am in Tampa.

Outdated

Rooms are very spacious. That's about the only good point. Lighting is so dim, it's hard to read at night. Could use a little cabinet space in kitchenette and could use more drawer space. There's a charge for the internet, and a $1.00 charge for local calls. Surprising they don't have an electric meter on each room to charge for the dismal lighting they provide. Management has its nose in the air and its hands in your pockets at every turn. Come on Hilton, it's 2007, give guests free phone and internet and some lights. Take some clues from the success of Baymont. This would have been a 5 star hotel in 1940, but not today.

convenient but filthy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/06
Property was dirty, and the food was terrible. Fortunately it's location is convenient but you have many choices in this particular area of Tampa. Additionally, the service experienced here was poor, and management was non-existant.

Stay Away !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/06
The hotel has gone steadily downhill. In much need of updating and re-training of how to clean both the rooms and common areas. The food is overpriced and restaurant service is poor. I have stayed here over the years, and cannot believe the poor direction that it has gone over time. Many employees that were assets for many years are no longer there and assistance is nearly impossible to attain.

Would go back
By Chee, 07/02/06
Nicely furnished but decor from the 70s. Booked on line a bay view room but given one with parking lot view. Room service is very excellent, but they forgot to pick up our breakfast order even though we put the order out before 10 pm the night before for breakfast. Excellent retaurant on site.

Had a great stay
By WendyLu, 11/07/05
I had a ton of Hilton Honors points, so my stay was free. The room over looked the bay and the weather was perfect for our weekend getaway.

We're coming back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/05
We've stayed here 3 times. Twice when it was Guest Quarters Suites and once as Doubletree. We like it because you don't feel crowded. The rooms are big. Last time we stayed on the first floor where we could just walk out to the pool...it was wonderful. We had a great view of the bay. On the down side ...it was starting to look a little shabby. Our room definitely needed a new carpet. I wish there was an outside spa.
