Not worth the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/12
After checking in we found that our pull out sofa had no mattress, the TV did not work, the charis on the balcony were covered in bird waste, and the playground for the kids was rusted through in areas posing a hazard for kids. Will never stay here again....

Disgruntled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/11
I can not fault the Hotel / beach / cafes / restuarants. They were clean and the staff in the shops were friendly. However on arrival I was asked for my bank card for room charges / meals / cafes / shops etc. and paid for all of these on my departure. On arriving home I was checking my bank statement I discovered they had taken out a further nine charges from my account which after a month have still not been reimbursed despite e-mailing them on a number of occasions.

Spa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/11
Disliked most everything about the spa but mostly the people who were running it I found them to be disingenuous and very plastic. The experience on an intrapersonal level was poor at best. From the moment I got to the spa I felt rushed and almost like a part on an assembly line. I attempted to talk to the Massage Therapist and ask a few questions about the spa etc. (polite small talk) during the massage but none of my questions were ever really answered it was a very cold experience. I did get the impression that the Therapist’s not talking or lack of personality was probably management driven. While it was never really spoken or said out loud it is my impression that this place must be managed by someone who intimidates the employees into not being personable. You could kind of tell by the way the poor girl was acting and looking around kind of like "don’t talk to me or I will get in trouble" just my take on it. As far as price goes wow! way way way over priced even for Marco Island. At a $125.00 starting point for 50min (before you get up sold in the room or add any thing beyond a basic massage) it is $35.00 more than another really good Spa just down the road at the Esplanade (a fairly upscale property) with a great Therapist who has a great personality. If you go with the add-on's you get offered in the room you can just add on and on and on. My point is not to do a review for another property it is just to show that it is not a great value as far as price goes. As far as Cleanliness it was fine, clean but not sparkling. The biggest complaint is that from the desk to the room to anyone I interacted with at the spa I never got any kind of warm and fuzzy feeling from this place. As for the massage it was ok at best nothing to spend any real time talking about it was just ok. Some of the features of the spa facility looked nice and I probably would have enjoyed using but because I never felt comfortable or even really like my business was appreciated I decided just to get out. To be completely fair I did not stay at the resort and my review is not a reflection of the property as a whole but a review of the spa facility. My over all review of the Spa is Poor and would not recommend it.

Restaurant Not Open
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/12/11
Our "MURPHY" bed was very uncomfortable. We were shocked that our room had a MURPHY bed! The other thing that bothered us was that the velet would ALWAYS ask us WHERE we were off to. We weren't sure why they always asked. Part of the time we were going out to eat because the selection of food was limited to sandwiches in the Hotel. Umbrellas and chairs were not set up . . . we had to ask for it to be setup and wait until they dragged the chairs out to the beach. We realize we could have opted to use one of the permanent palm umbrellas (at double the price) that were on the beach. Their main restaurant was closed during the week "for supposed" maintenance and were told would be open on the weekend. The beach was maintained, the pools were very nice.

Front Desk Manager snobby and rude
By Steelwind1, 6/7/11
Loved the property ,beach is beautiful and the restaurants and bars are very nice with friendly service. The houskeeping is terrible. Pool/Gulf view room was not vacuumed and the windows were filthy with hand prints. The front desk manager during the day was a female who was very snobby rude and unprofessional. She came across most phony with her smle and underlying sarcasim. Have stayed at many many Marriott's The first impression was not a pleasant experience. The General Manager needs to improve the front desk.

Photography - Free Photo Scam
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/10
The Hotel is nice in general, however steer away from the Free Photo Offer, you will pay, but who the money goes to is the question. We went for the free photo on the beach etc, they Photo Company took alot but we really just wanted what they were offering, a free photo. When we picked it out, we were told it would cost almost $20 for shipping and handling? we were confused. In any case we reluctantly ordered the ONE picture. It came several weeks later, and guess what, the envelope was not in great shape, and the stamp cost around $3 on it. What a scam. Marriott you should be ashamed of your self to allow your customers to be ripped off like this. I called the hotel manager and did not get much of a response or follow up needless to say.

sleepless in Marco
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/10
It was very clean, and had nice facilities. Although, we were put in a construction zone. Not to mention our thermostat kept breaking and in the middle of the night it would reach 85 degrees. kind of hard to move in the middle of the night.

Six summers in a row ...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/10
We found this real "jewel" almost by accident. We wanted to go to an island on the Caribbean, but our budget didn't allow it (we had gone to islands the previous two summers) this time. Needless to say, we have come back every summer since and have already made plans for 2010. While summer is "low season" because of the possibility of hurricanes, it also means that the rates are reduced, Marco Island is a ghost town (that's a positive for us), and the beach is simply breathtaking (we have managed to avoid hurricanes). Other reviews have pointed out that many of the amenities are extra, but we already figure that into our budget. For the money, we feel that this resort is definitely a winner. Besides that, they have spent millions of dollars on upgrades and the improvements have definitely helped. The rooms are ample, comfortable, the Marriott beds are superb (that's across the brand, not just in this resort), and the staff is highly accommodating. Beyond that, the island and nearby Naples offer dining and entertainment choices if you don't want to stay sequestered at the resort. We want to point out that we live in California (on a beach town) but we prefer to come to this resort for our beach vacation. We are already looking forward to it. Yes, it's THAT good!

Nice but expensive
By Mad Hatter, 12/26/09
Pros-Very nice inside the hotel, clean, pool was large and pool staff was friendly, not too many rules that interfered, would go back Con- Expensive. Both the rooms and food prices were expensive. Many add on expenses such as parking and chair rental at the beach. Long walk from the room to the beach. Self parking across the street is quite a hike. Bottom line-if you have money to burn, it is a nice vacation
