Waldorf Astoria???

First off this is a beautiful property. However, I went on vacation to relax and this is my first experience with the "Waldorf Astoria" brand. What a total disappointment. I reserved an Ocean Vista room at the Casa Marina in Key West. This room was a maximum, including the outdoor balcony of 265 sq. feet. I called the front desk and they assured me this is what I reserved. I spent the next hour of my vacation searching to make sure I was not confused about what I reserved. I found it and it clearly states the room I reserved was 350 sq ft. What a total bait and switch. I emailed Hilton and as of two weeks later no response. Oh and as a special aspect of my relaxing trip to Casa Marina this room has no bath tub. How can a resort room have no bath tub? I never take baths at home but it is something I enjoy on vacation. No such luck at the Waldorf Astoria.
More Good news! That first night the elevator by the room went out and it was out until we checked out. No worries because there was another one around the corner. Oh great, it went out on night three and it was out for a day.
Breakfast day two, I enjoy the buffet and my fiancé orders the eggs Benedict. 45 minutes to get nothing but empty promises. She finally just eats the buffet. They apologized and comp’ed breakfast but again very disappointing.
Day three on the beach at Casa Marina, we get to the beach at 11:00. Get our umbrella and Chairs. The guys on the beach are great at getting us set up. In the next five hours we have a server come by three times. I really just wanted to relax and enjoy some boat drinks. No such luck at the Waldorf Astoria.
Back to the room, both elevators out on this Saturday night in Key West. More excellent service we are out of shampoo and shower gel as we have had no replacements provided since we arrived. Call down and they bring it. I am so relaxed….
Day four and our last full day. After spending some time in town we come back to relax at the beach. The drink service is great on the beach this day. But we notice people walking over the sharp and slippery rocks to get to the water instead of using the pier that has steps at the end of the pier which avoids the rocks. Guess what? The pier is closed because the steps are slippery. Again, as with most everything on this trip at the Waldorf Astoria – nice management of the property. It is closed until 5:00 and then they clean the steps. Pathetic……
Needless to say I will never stay at a Waldorf Astoria property again. It isn’t cheap, which is fine but other than the beauty of the property there was no value. Needless to say my vacation was not as relaxing as it should have been.
