A perfect place for losing your belongings.

If you do not care about your luagges, welcome to Days Inn at 9990 Internation Drive, Orlando, FL. This is the perfect place for losing your belongings: no SECURITY whatsoever here: no digital camera and no security guard. Ironically, they have two cameras at the front desk and I heard that the front desk person does not dare to open the door for guest checkin if the guest arrives after midnight. What a safe place!
Here is our story. We got off the airplane and checked in. We left all luagges in the hotel room without unpacking because we were so hungry. We went out to eat and came back. Wow, what a clean room. Six luagges were gone. My first response was that maybe the hotel was trying to move us to another room. I called the front desk. The manager said that I am coming. We were waiting for about 15 minutes, nobody showed up. I went to the front desk, the manager was talking to somebody in front the hotel. She said that she was "astonished" and this was the "first time". Then she called the police. The policeman came and we filed a report. We consulted the officer if we could negotiate with the hotel to recover our loss and he suggested that it's between us and the hotel manger and it was not his business. Then we were talking to the manager. She at first simply stated that in Florida there is a stupid law saying that the hotel is not responsible for losing personal belongings in the hotel room except the properties in the safe. We argued that there was not enough security measurements so the thief was not deterred. The hotel has its fault in this incidence. She said again that this was the first time and if similar situations happened, they would have installed security cameras or put security guard on duty. We argued strongly against that the hotel as a public facility should provide basic security measurements for guests and she eventually admitted that there was not enough security. As for compensation, she will talk to the owner to see if they can do anything. She wanted us to come back during her shift (12pm-10pm) on the 2nd day. On the second day when we saw her, she came back to her original stance --they have no fault!
We checked out that hotel and moved to another hotel. And somehow I heard that at the same hotel on Nov 8, 2009, there was a hotel room break-in and the person knew that on the same day, another two rooms were broken in on the same day.
So if you care your own security, please stay away from this hotel.
