Beware of Hidden Fees
By ,
Booked our reservation online. No mention of a $29 per day "activity fee." Arrived at the hotel to be told it was a mandatory daily fee, whether we used the activities or not. We cancelled as we objected to this hidden charge. When our credit card bill arrived, we were billed $35 cancellation fee. More hidden, unscrupulous fees!! We fought and finally won but, oh, the hassle.

Everything you could ask for!!
By ,
We spent 5 nights here - and it totally exceeded all my expectations. I read some reviews and was a little apprehensive when I arrived. I acknowledge - the price does not compare to a large chain - but you get what you pay for. It was the most relaxing, happy time here. I found the staff - who always had a smile - to be most accomodating - from the takeout breakfasts to the wonderful waterfront staff. I was truly refreshed and rejuvenated here. All the golf, fishing and kayaking you want!! They also have wireless internet - very admirable - which is not my thing - but I guess if you HAVE to answer your e-mail you can - or use the 4 free internet stations in the lobby if you must connect to civilization. There is not a lot of flash and dash at the Cheeca - if you want dancing and noise - you would be better off in South Beach. It is quiet - but yet there is still LOTS to do inside and outside the resort. I could have spent another week there and not run out of things to see. It's pretty much what you make it. Seems it would be nice for families with small kids - but not an annoyance but if you are a couple here - there is a wonderful pool at the Avanyu Spa that is for those 18 and over where you can escape the kids and the noise. Also, make sure you take the sunset cruise. The best. Wish I could go back tomorrow! A true island paradise!

3-peat
By ,
We are about to return to Cheeca Lodge for the 3rd time. It is truly an oasis with barefoot elegance. The resort is nestled on the beach, has a nine-hole golf course and an Avanyu spa. The resort is very child friendly. My daughter enjoys going to Camp Cheeca a few mornings. The prices for food and lodging are high, but in my opinion worth it.

Cheeca is Wonderful
By ,
The Cheeca Lodge and Spa is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is very knowledgeable about the area and friendly. We have stayed there twice with two years between stays. They have done quite a bit of remodeling. The atmosphere is most pleasing to the eye. We went to all of the eateries/bars at the lodge. All were above and beyond our expectations. I think the Cheeca is a little pricey for the average household but well worth the money you pay..

Beautiful Location
By ,
Lovely clean room and beautiful scenery. Waiters were not as friendly or attentive as the cost of this lodge should demand.
