Home away from home
It's a good thing to be away from Duval so that you have a retreat from the craziness there, and Alexander's certainly is. I wished it were a couple blocks closer though and that is my only complaint, and is so insignificant compared to my overall joy that I happened upon this place.
The room I had was quite large for K.W. standards. After meeting some of the friendly other guests and being allowed to peek into their rooms, I am pretty sure most if not all the rooms are spacious and very nicely appointed.
The nicest part about our stay at Alexanders was the staff and the guests we met while there. Being locals, the staff offered great informal concierge service. They were all very friendly and concerned that our stay was comfortable, and enjoyable. Even more than that, they were personable and I feel that when I go back, I will be visiting friends there.
The free, pretty much full bar happy hour, and free breakfast that I would characterize as 'Continental Plus', facilitates meeting new friends and mingling w/guests. We actually ended up hitting some nightlife with some of the guests we met and were on a first name basis with most of the guests. Social hour isn't rammed down your throat though, and you can easily remain relatively anonymous should you choose.
Though the place has a social atmosphere, it does stay respectfully quiet in the evening/overnight. It's a fairly small place (maybe 15 rooms) so even in the day odds are that most people are out and about. I would say it's even suitable for business travel when quiet at night is required.
Great landscape complete w/huge blooming (spring-time) Poinciana with pool/spa well maintained and sparkling.
Thanks everyone at Alexanders, we'll see you again soon!
