Roaches at the Washington Plaza Hotel
By Jane Doe, 9/5/11
1. The hotel has roaches. My son saw one in the bathroom. I slammed it and called the desk. They moved me to another room another floor up and that night while watching T.V. we saw another roach. AND no I did not bring roaches with me. I am a neurontic boarderline ocd about cleanliness. I could not sleep for two nights so we left. 2. The basement parking is horrible. Pipes leaked a mystery substance on my clean car. 3. I feel cheated out of the first vacation I have taken with my son. We wanted to see everything. Instead we had to cut it short. 4. There was never a manager on staff to speak with me. Only the "desk" manager. If you want to have a nice vacation stay somewhere else.

The wireless internet connection worked great. Good location. But service was poor and walls too thin I could hear everything the neighbors do.

would stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/10
we liked the looks of the Hotel, and our room was ok, really didn't care that the bedspread was white. needed more color.cleaned. plenty of pillows, which we like. and towels, good size tv, helpfull in giving us directions when we ask. enjoyed the pool, and had one meal, which was very good. would of been helpfull to had a small frige, to keep drinks cool, at least during the summer. locations was ok.when we book a room we ask for a room over the pool. and didn't get it.

Great Place
By Mountaineer, 8/14/09
We enjoyed our stay at the Washington Plaza Hotel. Although the room was on the small side (which is typical of a city hotel) it was very clean and comfortable. The wireless internet connection worked great. The pool was large and attractive. The location was about a mile and a half from attractions ( a little far for walking). --- I would stay there again!

forget the internet access
By Marc, 4/4/08
A perfectly adequate, clean comfortable hotel in a good location. BUT if you expect to have good internet access, stay someplace else. The wireless signal flickers and is slow when it works. It was out for a full day during my stay, and all the staff could tell me was that I should try to be understanding.

Other Than the S&M Convention...
By Happyfungirl729, 8/11/07
My biggest complaint? They had booked a convention for over 300 S & M fanatics. I'm not kidding here. The group (Masters & Slaves United, I think the T-shirts read) members were everywhere in the hotel, sometimes having inappropriate conversations. Normally, I would just forget about it, but I had my 8-year-old with me and this made it truly difficult to navigate the lobby, restaurant and pool area. I will say that they had a restricted ballroom area off the lobby and most of the activities seemed to take place there, away from public view. As I was checking out, the apparent host of the event told the manager, "We'll be back next year!" I thought, we won't! I would have appreciated knowing this prior to booking the hotel. I know I would have chosen a different hotel for this specific trip with my child. Otherwise, this hotel was adequate, especially for the price. The best thing was the location and the pool. Even though it was being repaired when we got there, by day three it was filled back up and ready to go. The hotel was clean even if it was showing some serious age. The staff was kind and helpful.

Terrible Service, Dirty Facilities
By Monique, 7/5/07
The hotel is in a great location, but it is not worth it. My family ate dinner poolside and the service was terrible. Our drinks were mixed incorrectly and the bartender argued with us, laughed at us, and refused to correct the drinks or take them back. While we were eating a large rat ran through the dining area. We told our waiter, who laughed and brushed us off. I reported it to the front desk and they did not care. I asked for the manager who told me that D.C. simply has a rat problem and that she cannot stand outside in the dining area and shoot every bird or rodent. I was appalled. In addition, the walls of our room were dirty and the elevators rarely work correctly. Stay away from this hotel if at all possible.

Not a truly three star hotel, but two or one
By ErieM, 6/1/07
Conveniently located is possibly the best I can say. My one queensize bedroom was decorated like a hospital, everything was white, absolutely no personality or warm feel to it, none. The place look rather clean but not spotless. Plenty of towels in bathroom. When I ask for soft pillows they say they didn't have, so I had to use a towel because those huge firm pillows torture my neck. Good size of TV and decent cable. The gym was small but had something like seven treadmills kind of new models. Room service is expensive, too many extra charges.

2 Nights for the Price of 3
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/07
Could never find the ice machine. No free coffee in the morning--nothing's free. Pool was supposed to be open by May but it was a deep shade of emerald green (a cover would be nice during cold months). Too far from restaurants. Too far from tourist attractions to be walkable, really. No tub in our room--just a tiny shower stall. Too many scuffs and stains on walls. 3.5 five inch width baseboard tiles were missing from the bathroom floorboard area. Hardware was missing from the chest of drawers (handles). Shabby toilet paper roll attachment (badly seated screws--wrong kind of screws). 2 TV channels almost do not come in. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. One door hinge was rising up and out. Carpet frayed at the edges in several places. Rather tiny TV set in this day and age--19 inch I think. Two big stains on the chair. Curtains were falling off mounting in one place. No and I mean zero room decor. The bed was the best thing about this room--it was quite good. The maids and doormen were really nice but the guys at the front desk were snobby for some reason. Worst, our plane was delayed due to engine fire--couldn't make the first night and we called ahead, yet we got charged for that night anyway. Such nice people. Note that this is an old hotel in a late 60s or early 70s form. At this time, they're attempting to present it as really posh and "mod". Not quite. Terrible place for couple--they clearly make their money on big, noisy conventions. Overall, C or D in my book. I've had much better stays in low end motels along the highway.

Very disappointment & transit hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/20/06
I disliked everything about the hotel. Not very clean. Very basic. Not comfortable. Not enough help. Service poor. Not very secure. Changed my room and assigned it to another person without changing the room key code. Provided the same key to other person before, I moved my things. Luckily, someone else came with me to help me move my belongings.
