Really Charming; excellent front desk staff!
By Frequent Traveller, 9/16/09
And, it's SO well-located! We had a terrific time; so much more affordable than other hotels in the area... Very comfortable, clean, and cheery!

You will be sorry
By lost out, 8/1/08
"This little hotel is in a perfect spot. Probably the best thing going for it. It is waiting for some valuable changes that would make it a number one spot people would pay for.. . 1. No elevator, so if you are disabled, don't even bother. You will need to walk up the stairs. 2. The first greeter is a cat, yes, cat, in a public hotel where the guest with allergies must overlook that the cat has first right of refusal. 3. air condition is shared by several rooms. So if you happen to be in the room with the control, you must keep it on as other guest in other rooms may be hot while you are freezing. If not, you will get a call from the front desk asking you to turn the air back on. 4. Don't bother asking for a taxi to be called, the front desk will call you a limo rather than a taxi (there must be a hookup agreement) 5. Oh and the rats . . . they are on the front lawn. DC Charmer
By Listener, 1/15/08
This hotel has victorian charm and is affordable. The service - housekeeping and front desk - were quick and listened to me. Breakfast in the mornings was great. The location is fantastic. It is close to DuPont Circle and some great clubs. The owner was even on site several of the days I was there. Nice clean sheets and bathroom too.

Bad Rodent Infestation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/08
My girlfriend and I had FOUR mouse sightings between the two of us, in our first hour after checking in. The first was in the hallway, and the next three sightings were in our room. This itself is a major health hazard. The Embassy Inn arranged to transfer us to their sister hotel, the Windsor Inn, but it took us two hours to negotiate the details, when all we wanted to do was get out of there! They were reluctant to comp our stay, and were not as proactive as they could have been. We also spotted bugs in the room where breakfast is served. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel. Its downfalls are inexcusable, even for a budget accommodation.

Think about it before
By Guillermo J, 10/12/07
Waht others say about the small size of the rooms, the lack of visibility, the air conditioning (ohhh yes, on and off at any hour), the food (or lack thereof - the continental breakfast is a joke), and the stairs is true. I would add, if the internet and phone is important to you, find somewhere else. Internet is spotty at best, particularly in the rear rooms, and as for the phone, any time you make a call, local or otherwise, you WILL pay a nice little fee (not clearly explained in the hotel guide - a black portafolio with old, inconsistent info) The only reason I would recomend this hotel is to as a place to sleep.

Avoid if possible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/07
The Embassy Inn does not try hard to please. Spring 07 was cold, the heat was off in our room unless we could negotiate with staff and the room occupants next door. The amenities were minimal. When asked for a blanket at night the staff person at the desk said "I cant do that, sorry." Convenient location. Fellow inmates were great.
