At first appearance, the hotel was great. The lobby was nice, the room was clean, and the bed was great...and that is the end of the "good". Our room shook like and earthquake, the housekeepers never re-stocked the bathroom. We used a few of the coffee/tea condiment packs and they simply left them...even though we used the sugar and stirrers. We asked and never got a "Do not disturb" sign. The room service was severely over priced. A burger was $15...with a 16% increase due to room service fee as well as an included tip. The t.v. had exactly 10 channels (four of which were news). The HBO they "offered" was the lowest-rent possible and showed the same movies over and over again. The bar: awful. A shot of domestic whiskey with a little cola was $11.30. A domestic bottled beer was $5 and an import was $7. There weren't any drink menus and the "bartender" didn't know how to make any drinks beyond a Jack-and-Coke. The dining experience was laughable. A bowl of oatmeal? $9.00...and I had to serve myself. A cup of coffee? $3.00. The location of this hotel is about three feet from no where. That is why they can charge the prices for their food and drinks. Everything is miles away...and if you ask for a cab; pray you get the right person at the desk. I asked for a cab and they told me to call "DC" cab myself. On the positive, the doorman went and called for me and let me know when one arrived.
The hotel is fairly located to the Smithsonian museums, but not really worth the hassle when looking for a dining experience that could exceed $50 for simple food. We had to order in on the first night and for one entree, one appetizer, and a soda ran nearly $60 while we had a three course meal at a nice restaurant was just $15 more. You can't afford to stay at this place if you have kids.
