GREAT LOCATION FOR SMITHSONIAN MUSEUMS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/10
The location is great for walking to the museums. The room was clean and the staff helpful. No bugs! Our room was on the 7th floor away from the trains and elevator, no problem with noise. The room is a little small, (double bed standard) you can't setup your suitcase at the end of the bed. But there is an in room refrigerator. The area around the hotel is business, across the street from the Department of Education, mostly during the day people in suits walking around instead of some of the characters as in other parts of the city. There is nothing to do at night around the hotel, the streets are quiet and empty, the CVS pharmacy shuts down early. The hotel is close to the Metro and has a taxi stand in front.
I had no problem with the food. The hotel is attached to a Starbucks, has a full service restaurant, a full service bar open to midnight and a deli express. The bar food was good, priced right and large servings. The staff was friendly even when busy. There is a CVS Pharmacy, Quiznos, and McDonalds right next door.
The pool is on the roof and you have to take a flight of steps to get to it from the 9th floor. I was disappointed that it was closed for the season and the door to the pool area was locked. I would have liked to have been able to see the view.
We had no problems staying here. Good for families or people wanting to see the sights of DC, but not good for people looking for nightlife. No bars, no restaurants, no shopping, etc.
We had a great trip and enjoyed our stay here!
