Dirty, old, small & overpriced. Run in the other direction. The only reason we stayed here was because it allowed dogs to stay- with $10 extra fee. When we arrived the desk clerk was on his phone on a personal call and took him a few minutes to help me since he had to finish his call first. Then the hotel keys didn't work. The site advertises "newly remodeled rooms", however the rooms are old small and dirty. Beer bottle caps found on floor in the room & someone else's hair in our unused towels. My husband and I wondered if the sheets were changed between guests. The TV picture was messed up. We were woken up at 2 am by a crowd of people yelling in the parking lot- one of them bragging about everything he had stollen that day. Called front desk, but noise level continued. Also the hotel offers free parking- but good luck finding it. There are limited spots in the crammed parking lot- my car was hit while parked there. The hotel site advertises heated pool- too cold for us! Site also advertised free breakfast which we were told upon arrival was a muffin and cup of coffee. Decent location near- not on the water, and only about 10 min to get to the Gaslamp Quarter. I wouldn't pay more than $40 for a room here. As far as dog friendliness- not very many places to walk puppy to do his business. BUT if you do stay here- stop by Mitch's seafood for dinner. Very good fish!! And only a short walk away.

The price was good, but the room was bad....... we were staying for two nights, the first night was enough to tell how bad the room was, the bathrooms are so small, the heater broke down in the middle of the night and I had my three kids and they got reallly sick, we call the front desk to see if they can come and check the heater and they said there was nothing they can do until the morning, so we had to sleep like that and the room was freezing ..... I don’t recommend this hotel, maybe if the service would of been bettr I wouldn't mind so much about the room being small.....

Despite the online reviews, this hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. The rooms were tiny and the wallpaper was peeling off everywhere. The bathroom appeared to be clean, but the sheets had stains in them. Their free breakfast consisted on coffee, juice and sweet rolls-they didn't even offer milk and cereal or any kid friendly type food. The parking lot is way too small for a hotel and we had a construction crew blocking the entire street on one side.Parking was terrible. I do not recommend this hotel for the price. I have stayed at several other chains for the same amount of money that were A LOT nicer than this. Front desk crew was OK, seemed a little out of it at times.

Very clean and quiet, appeared to be newly remodeled and they bought good beds! The pool and grounds are as clean as the rooms. The gentlemen at the desk was very pleasant and accommodating. Booked at the last minute because of a funeral so just a quick overnight, am now planning a trip back to Sea World and the beach and am staying here.

Awesome location, great for walking the dogs. Clean room, cute bathroom. We will definately visit again.

I reserved a non smoking room. We were given the keys to a room that smelled very strongly of smoke and was told by the desk clerk that he couldn't smell smoke because he was a smoker so he didn't know it wasn't a non smoking room!The desk clerk looked very unprofessional with a shirt that looked like he had slept in it and was stained with food. We were given a very nice clean room but had to wait an hour while it was cleaned. Check in time was 2o'clock and we got in about 3:30. We left a set of keys in the room when we checked out and was given the run around for two days about finding them. They kept making excuses why they couldn't go look and did not return phone calls as promised. The keys were never returned to us. I liked the room a lot. It was clean, nicely decorated, very comfortable beds, but the service was way below par. Parking was also a problem. We had to park across the street as the lot was completely full.

we stayed here a week and loved it.The manager (Jessie) was great.And the housekeeper was right there if we needed anything.At night they had the best cookies I think they were fresh baked.This is a clean and safe place to stay.

l like the price, location, convenient to attractions BUT you have to live with stained carpets, not enough parking, maid service needs improvement, some of the desk help can be rude and unattentive. If you dare stay out past 9pm at night you won't get a parking space then you have to park a couple blocks away from the hotel. There are definitely more cars than rooms although they post ONE car per room. Was given a room and walked in to a foul smell, large spots on the carpet that obviously hadn't been cleaned in awhile and you don't dare walk barefoot on the carpet your feet get filthy. Demanded another room and the manager on duty was accomodating. The times I've stayed there the pool is never clean. I'll go back because the price is right, but will bring tons of Lysol and carpet cleaner and vaccum.

I booked this hotel for a group of people traveling together on a budget. It was a wonderful surprise. I would call it retro-quaint, super location, our rooms were very clean and the seafood next door was outstanding. This is not a five star hotel but for the price in San Diego it was great. Not one complaint out of 11 people. How often does that happen? Continental Breakfast was muffins but they were great tasting. The property appears to be well maintained and recently redone. I would definately stay here again and based on this experience I would try other Vagabonds.

I was completely deceived by the online reviews given by others on this hotel. We arrived & the place is like a run down shack of sorts. We asked to see a room before we checked in & they took us to a room that was just cleaned...let me just say my husbands comment was "I will need to wear my socks if I want to shower in that". Carpet was stained & dirty, bedding was very old & dingy, but by far the bathroom was the worst. It was very disgusting, the window wouldn't shut because there was so much mold/grime build up in the window sill. Needless to say we did not stay, and I am giving this review as a courtesy to others who might be visiting the Point Loma area. They are however renovating some of the hotel, so maybe in time it might be decent. The staff was nice about cancelling our reservation, so that was definately a plus for us!
