Description

This sleek, green-trimmed motel blends in with the apartment buildings that surround it. Located on the border of Russian Hill and Pacific Heights, it is just steps away from Union Street's hip and chic shops as well as a wonderful selection of restaurants that will suit every palate and every price range; from the haute cuisine Vietnamese-style of The Golden Turtle to the Bohemian funkiness of Notes from the Underground Cafe. There is easy access via public transit to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown and the Financial District. The motel features excellent service from an attentive and friendly staff plus such amenities as a heated pool, perfect for a dip on the usually chilly San Francisco days. The rooms are comfortable and though the decor is fairly nondescript, they are well maintained and there are huge windows, some with dynamite views of The City.

Bed Bugs!!!!
By ann, 9/24/10
Although the staff was friendly enough what we left with was not. My daughter, son and I stayed in room 304 and left with alot of bed bug bites. My daughter has a severe reaction from the bites that her doctor says could cause scarring. She has also had to take additional time off from work because of the ways it looks and where she works is a hospital. Then for two days straight I called for the handle on the toilet to be repaired. The handle was tied to the stopper inside the commode with string, the string broke. So simple repair took 2 and a half days to repair. We had to remove the lid and stick our hand inside to pull the stopper up in order to flush. I have requested a refund and have been told that I could have that and that it was processed. Guess what no refund yet.. Go figure.

Horrible Hotel!!!
By Nicole Rachels, 9/23/10
Horrible! Upon arrival at our room we were greeted with an absolutely horrible smell that immediately began to burn our throats. I walked over to open the window, which faced the very busy Van Ness Avenue, to let in some fresh air…hoping that would help. Ten seconds after opening the window the entire thing, FRAME AND ALL, came smashing into our room! I called the front desk repeatedly for 10 minutes straight and got no answer. I decided to check out of the hotel and find some other accommodations. I gave my key to the employee, Robert, at the front desk and he assured me that I would receive a refund. A week later and I am no closer to getting my money back. The hotel is insisting that I stayed both nights...really?! Like I would stay in a room with no freaking window! I would absolutely advise against staying at this hotel! The price may look good and the pictures may seem okay, but the hotel is disgusting!

Think twice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/10
We got to our room and needed to air it out, opened the window (no screen) and had lots of road noise (2nd floor). The ceiling fan was loose and wobbly, so couldn't turn that on. We had to switch out our door keys twice because they wouldn't work. The door had a 1/2 inch to inch gap when it closed. A good kick would have let someone come through even being locked. My daughter used the provided hair dryer and it tripped the breaker - no power until we could find the maintenance man. We had to go to the lobby to get our own towels. The continental breakfast consisted of a bowl of Cheerios or Raisin Bran, OJ and toast. We talked to someone that said they had a pretty nice room, but requested a move because the elevator (scary) made too much banging noises during the night. Big mistake- he got a room like ours. Dirty. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance, which they also did not have record of. The bright spot was that it did come with a parking spot we didn't have to pay extra for and there is a nearby bus stop.

NO MATTER WHAT, DON'T STAY HERE!!!!
By Aida, 7/8/10
This hotel was such a let down. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in a hotel down the street and loved it, so decided to take his kids close by. Big mistake! we had to switch out keys twice because the doors wouldn't open, bathroom was tiny, dressers were dirty and they have to bring you the microwave and fridge. Also, the coffee pot was disgusting. we had to nuke some water and use instant coffee. One last thing: the place is a maze, no quick way down to the lobby and the elevators and hallways are shady.

Bed Bugs!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/09
Stayed here thinking it was a good price for a few nights, but the bed bug bites was the real price to pay! The staff did change the sheets however the problem lyes (literally) in the mattresses. They did offer us another room, but decided to get out of there!! Would not recommend this hotel as a place to stay

HORRIBLE
By Carla, 9/27/09
OMG-----we traveled here, hoping for the best. You know its bad when your 8 and 10 year old are SCARED to stay there. Fortunately, we were able to find a nicer hotel, closer to the Wharf for a few dollars more. This hotel needs to be demolished. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/09
My girlfriend and I were on a tight budget so we booked this hotel weeks in advance to our arrival. We called the night before to make sure that the hotel had received our reservation. They had no clue. After supposedly clearing things up, we showed up for check in that thursday afternoon and the man in the front lobby was clueless. Not only did they lose our reservation, but they booked us a room with a shower that didn't dran, a bathroom light that didn't work, the room had a foul odor, and the bed had a TICK in it!!!!!!!!! We couldn't find another hotel within our price range so this hotel offered us a "better" room with a "view". After the first night, I woke up with bite marks on my hand. Over the next 2-3 days the bites and rashes had spread throughout my entire body. After returning home I went to see my regular doctor here in town and she had told me that these marks were due to BED BUGS!!! I can't even begin to explain how disgusted I am! Please do not stay here!!!!! It isn't worth saving a buck. This hotel is the most disgusting, dirty, and unorganized establishment in all of San Francisco. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

IT WAS OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/1/09
before coming to the place I already prepared myself for the worst, since I booked for a no refund reservation I don't have a choice. I was even planning to bring some bed bug spray and other disinfectant because my daughter has a very sensitive skin. But when we got there, it wasn't that bad. We didn't experienced the bedbug problem that everybody else was saying-thank GOD. But I was having problem accepting that there's NO AC in the room, just a ceiling fan, it was very uncomfortable. I was happy that we survived the 2 day stay in this hotel.

Do not stay here!!!
By maria, 8/16/09
My boyfriend, his parents and I decided to have a weekend in SF. His parents wanted to treat us to the weekend, so they booked the hotel, and we set off on our beautiful drive up the coast. We arrived at about 11pm - tired from the drive, and looking forward to crawling into a comfy hotel bed. We were told that there was guaranteed parking for all hotel guests, and of course, when we arrived, there was none - hmm. We waited in the car, while my bf's parents checked in. An hour later we were headed to our room. As we walked to our room, I actually said out loud "this place looks like it rents by the hour!" It was super sketchy, with weird people hanging around watching us. We get to our room, and the key doesn't work. Amazing. Out of the shadows, a man in normal clothes says "your key doesn't work? I will go get someone.." A sweaty man comes running up to us and opens our door. Immediately, the smell of smoke and urine hits us in the face. The lights go on, and the room looks like one from a movie - one where you die in the middle of the night. We go in, and decide that the smell is bad enough that we want to change rooms. The sweaty (but nice) man takes me and my bf's mom down to another room around the back, which felt really sketchy. He opens the door, and quickly slams it shut, nervously saying "this one isn't ready for you. We will have to move you tomorrow." As soon as he left, I said "there is probably a dead prostitute on the bed.." I was only half joking. We return to our room, and just decide to deal for the night. I went into the gross bathroom, and lifted up the toilet seat, only to find poop in it. Lovely. We all quickly got changed, ripped the nasty bedspread off the bed, and got in. A few minutes into it, I look over, and notice what seemed like an ant crawling on my bf's dad's pillow near his head. I say something about it, and he pops up to look, and kill it. Almost immediately, there were bugs everywhere. Bedbugs. BEDBUGS!! I took pics and video, it was so bad. There was also blood on the sheets. We all jump up, and decide that something needs to be done immediately, since we are here for 3 nights at a non-refundable rate. I try to get on the "complimentary" internet to find another hotel, but surprise, it doesn't work! It is now after 1am. My bf's dad goes down to handle everything, and I get on my cell to get us a new hotel. Every single hotel is booked up solid for the whole weekend, and we were not getting out of this. Dad tells us that they are upgrading us to a suite, but it only has one king bed, and a single pullout couch bed. He also mentions that it didn't seem like they were surprised to hear our complaints at the desk. Whatever, as long as its clean. The key doesn't work again, so this time, they give us the master key. THE MASTER KEY! We could get into any room with it. Scary. We check the entire room, no bugs, and a new matress. The pullout couch is a joke, and is completely caved in. Three slept in the bed, and I slept on the small L-shaped couch, with a sheet over it so that I had no direct contact with the fabric of the couch. The next morning, we switched again to the 2nd floor to the nicest room yet, which isn't saying much. We remain in this room the rest of the time, but spend as little time in the room as possible, and keep our valuables on us (in case others have the master key also!) I would comment on the breakfast, but I would never even step foot in that room, let alone eat the food they offer. As we checked out, and walked to our car, this happened...there were 2 cop cars parked right behind our car - one was a regular cop car, and the other was an undercover car. The 2 undercover cops were walking two young guys with handcuffs on, out of our lovely hotel. They put them in the cop car, and the undercovers went back in. As they did, I said to them "this is the gnarliest hotel I have ever been in", and they said "that's why we're here..." Par for the course. Do not stay here.
