Nearby train station
Stayed 1 wk while attending a convention. Great Breakfast! Has wafflemaker, muffins, narrowly limited fruit choices, juice, hot/cold cereal, hard boiled eggs. If you must have your eggs over-easy, Denny's is in the parking lot. This hotel is across street from Amtrak station; but to walk, you must zig-zag thru some cross walks. The streets around the motel are virtually off-ramps and on-ramps therefore the crosswalks are strategically placed to protect you from drivers coming off the frwy and not mentally oriented to city streets with pedestrians. So its actually a longer walk to the hotel, when you can look across the parking lot see it from the front door of the train station! Good public transit to dntn convention center, no transfers, direct bus line. Shopping at the base of K Street Mall with major dept stores is just across the street-- obey those crosswalks for safety!
Even tho the hotel is near the frwy, I didn't think it was noisy, probably because the frwy is elevated. Not too many bars and night clubs nearby; so their patrons don't spill out into the street making noise. My friends at a dntn hotel had this problem. (Next year for the same convention, they will stay at Vagabond, with me!) Nearby is a Confucious Church/ religious complex. No noise from those meditators!
The room was nice, no odors or mold. Furnishings appeared updated; otherwise construction style is 1970's box. King bed with pillow top, very comfortable. TV and remote worked fine. Desk and chair, plus club chair with ottoman was comfortable. Nice tip in vanity area was a wall mounted "accordion" magnifying mirror. Tub-shower could sure use a bowed out shower curtain rod. 1 or 2 more towel holders in shower room would be nice, also. Hot water was plentiful and quickly obtained even tho my room was at the very end, corner of the building on the ground floor.
Automobile access to the parking lot is a bit awkwards... 1 driveway ramp is blocked with yellow cement posts, only available entry is by Dennys. My husband picked me up by car at the end of the week, and with "good" directions he still circled the block a few times before successfully entering parking lot!
Maid service was OK, minimal english spoken. I took my damp towels by the maid's service room and exchanged them after 8:05am is when they start up. Nothing available any earlier. The maids quit by 3pm.
Walked by pool several times, its very small. Much larger deck area with many lounge chairs. Breakfast room tables and chairs have seating overflow nearby pool so if weather is nice, its a "sidewalk cafe" ambiance. (but pool doesn't open until brkfst is finished, around 10am)
2 internet accessible computers in small room by lobby, have extended "business hours"; I think it was 7am until 10pm, and they do lock it up. They don't like it if you take some of your breakfast stuff into the computer room.
My only complaints about my room was the small window over the door could be opened for real air ventilation... but there was no screen over the window!!! I could safely get 1" of fresh air-- didn't want birds or flies coming in.
And if this hotel is going to call itself "Executive" the front desk staff should know more about the area... they knew where the bus stop was located but didn't know which bus lines stopped there. Or how to get a light rail pass. They knew the Amtrak station was right across the street, but didn't know how to direct a passenger with a suitcase on wheels, to manage the maze of crosswalks and get over to the station. My opinion, if they are going to claim Executive level service, like their name advertises, they should be able to give service-able answers to travelers who have utilized the close proximity to the train station for hotel--travel convenience. They also didn't know where the nearest bank ATM machine was on J Street... Wells Fargo is barely a 1 1/2blocks east with walk--up sidewalk access!
