Quality Suites John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana

We stayed at this hotel a few of times many years ago. We loved the location and the two room suites. We stopped visiting this hotel about six years because we were really disappointed with the condition of the room. We came back ago this time because our son now studies at UC Irvine and we read a couple of very good reviews about this hotel. Every piece of the reviews is true. What a huge difference ! It looks like this hotel has gone thru a major facelift. Nice and comfortable room, beautiful grounds, lovely pool, helpful staff and the best cooked to order breakfast and the price is more than reasonable. We will definitely be back when we visit our son in Irvine.

We had a wonderful five nights and six days at this beautiful hotel. Our goal was to visit Laguna Beach daily while we were in Southern CA and the proximity was great. It took us around 30 minutes each day to get there. We could not have afforded to stay in Laguna, so this was the perfect answer. The service was excellent and the place was spotless. The complementary breakfast was fantastic and just kept the cost of our trip down even more. We enjoyed the pool and our balcony. Our bed was so comfortable and the two room suite allowed us plenty of space. We will definitely choose this place again when we return to Orange County. When we first walked in, I was quite impressed. The lobby is nice looking, the yard is real cute and quiet. The room was nice. We were traveling with four kids, so it was great that it had a sliding door to keep the kids separate. I only have two complaints. The pull out sofa was incredibly uncomfortable. Not even a little. It squeaked everytime we moved and sunk in the middle. I didn't sleep well at all. The other complaint I had was the breakfast. Although it was free, it was so disgusting my kids didn't even like it... and they are the biggest eaters I know. I was highly dissapointed with the breakfast. Besides those things, I thought it was a nice hotel. Will I stay there again? Probably not, but it was okay for a couple nights.

The personal is very helpfull and atentive, the pool is good. The rooms are not. Smelling very musty/moldy. Dirty torn carpet. I could not breath and tried out two different rooms, than decided to go to a different hotel. The personal at the reception was very helpfull to refund my credit card.

I have stayed here MANY times and used to love it. The place has run down considerably and the new owner has jacked up the price and dropped the free mini-dinners completely. The breakfast quality has dropped as well. What a shame...

WOW, DO NOT STAY THERE UNLESS YOU WANT A ROOM WITH NO AC!!! WHEN WE GOT INTO OUR ROOM THE AC DID NOT WORK. THEY SENT A WORKER WHO SPOKE NO ENGLISH AND HE WAS CLUELESS!!!! I KNEW MORE ABOUT IT THEM HIM.THEY GAVE US ANOTHER ROOM IN THE NOISIEST SECTION. THEY ACTED COMPLETLY UNCARING FOR OUR SITUATION. THEY NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR HAVING US MOVE AROUND TO ANOTHER ROOM.YES THEY DID GIVE US ANOTHER ROOM, MADE US LATE THOUGH. DON'T THEY CHECK THOSE A/C UNITS? THEY GOT IRRITATED WHEN WHEN WE ASKED TO BE MOVED TO A ROOM WITH WORKING AIR!! RUDE!WHEN WE GOT TO THAT ROOM, THE AIR SEEMED WEAK IN THERE TOO, BUT WORKED, MY HUSBAND WHO MAINAINS A/ C UNITS AND HEATING UNITS FOR A LIVING OPENED THE VENT. IT WAS FILTHY AND IN BACKWARDS! DUH!!!!! NOW, THE BATHROOM WAS SO SMALL! THE TOILET WAS NOT CLEAN. THEY NEED TO DO LESS FANCY TOWEL FOLDING AND DO SOME RECAULKING AROUND THAT NASTY TOILET!!!! A TUBE OF CAULKING IS CHEAP AT HOME DEPOT. THE BREAKFAST WAS THE ONLY THING THAT WAS DECENT! OH, AND THE SET UP FOR THE ROOMS IS LIKE A MAZE FOR RATS! YEP, GIVE US CHEESE WE WERE KINDA LIKE RATS RUNNING AROUND TRYING TO GET GOOD SHELTER. THE PRICE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MOTEL 6 RANGE. I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. MAN DO THEY NEED TO UPDATE THEIR A/C. PLUS THEY NEED TO WORK ON THEIR CUSTOMER RELATIONS!!! SO, IF I WERE A TEACHER I WOULD GIVE THEM A FAT D! THE FOOD A B +. KEEP HUNTING UNLESS YOU ARE DOWN RIGHT DESPARATE, SERIOUSLY THERE ARE SOME OTHER CHOICES. LIVE AND LEARN IS HOW IT WAS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. C'MON QUALITY SUITES READ THESE!!!! YOUR CUSTOMERS HAVE THE BEST INSIGHT.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! First of all, our room was dirty and desperately needed a remodel. There was a ring of...something...around the toilet, and there was a stain on the wall that bore a remarkable resemblance to dried blood. The air-conditioning did not work. The carpet was old and dirty, and the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. I am still filthy, and still itching. The room was about two feet from a major road, and it sounded like the hotel was going to collapse every time a car drove by. We barely got any good sleep at all. The worst part of the room was the terrible odor. It smelled like rotten mildew, and it almost made us all sick every time we walked into the room. The pool was clean, but very tiny. The jacuzzi tub was good-sized, but the foam from the jets was black and brown from...who knows what?! The dinner was okay (hot dogs and hamburgers), but when tons of people walk in, and there are ten tables, that proves to be an issue. The only redeemable qualities of this otherwise unsavory hotel are the cooked-to-order breakfast, which was good, and the nice people at the front desk. The price may be attractive, but I recommmend that you stay somewhere else. The hotel's name may be'Quality Suites', but there is little to no quality in these suites. Run while you can!!!

It was really nice to have a hot breakfast every morning and also great to have dinners provided for a couple nights of the week. We were worried that the food wouldn't be any good, but it was! The staff was really helpful when we needed it.

Quality Suite has a lot of good features. First, the location was great. It was almost in the center of places (i.e. Long Beach, Laguna Beach, Newport, etc.) The first time I arrived in my suite, the place was clean. Also, everytime I came back from my long day trips, all the things were replaced and organized. The price is great and the pool is a plus!

Since 1996 I have stayed 14 times at this no-nonsens, great place to stay. Compared to the "carpet" hotels you are somebody recognized as staying at the hotel, provided with a good service, clean all the way and a good location to discover the area. If you consider the very low prices, it is an absolute suggestion. This autumn I will celebrate my 15th stay and I am looking forward to it. Marc from Belgium, where quality is appreciated.
