Noisy and Annoying

Unwillingly, we stayed two nights in... this place. Upon arriving at the hotel, we went to check in but were far from greeted by a woman at the front desk claiming that we should have arrived a day prior to our set arrival date. After about 5 years (no, I'm kidding, but it was forever), the woman finally found us an available room. This is probably the only good thing I can say about... this place.
Upon entering our room, we were actually relieved. The beds were newly and tidily made; the funiture clean and neat. However, upon closer inspection, we noticed black scuff marks on many parts of the walls. Also, we noted a horrible paint job that apparently was used to cover up a prior leak in the ceiling.
Now, we are not picky people, and a few superficial problems aren't exactly going to ruin our stay. However, because it was a bit warm in the room, so we turned on the air conditioner (one of those old-fashioned below-the-window ACs). The noise that this horrible machine emitted was enough to wake up a family down the hall from us, although I suppose that most of the rooms have air conditioners like ours. At night it was impossible to sleep well with that machine conundulating all night, so none of us got a good night's sleep. More noise came from vent that came on with the flick of a light switch in the bathroom (this was unusually loud - everyone in the hotel could probably hear us use the bathroom).
When we tried to take our showers, we found that it was impossible. The shower head didn't work, so we were reduced to taking baths. The next morning we twice told the same lady at the front desk to send someone up to fix it. She said "someone would be up at around 9:00" but no one ever came. The next night we still had to take baths, which is annoying for parents, but not necessarily for kids.
I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are certainly better hotels for a comparable price in its vicinity.
*One other good thing - this hotel was in decent walking distance from the hotel - we never used the trolley (which picks up passengers at next door's Ramada Inn). Of course it wouldn't pick anyone up here!
