Vagabond Inn Chico, Chico

I liked the price and the room was clean. especially was happy with the staff. Melissa was friendly and helpful. Beth was another facvorite,always smiled and got us anything we needed. didint care for the parking..it is downtown..and the motel was full one night I coudin find a spot in the lot, asked the girl annya, and she was nothing like the 2 managers..rude not helpful, but melissa came out and gave me her parking spot..she was great..fire the rude one..keep melissa and beth..

Very nice...I stayed on 8-15-10. My room was clean, recently remodled and comfy mattress. I will for sure be back. Staff was vey helpful! and welcoming.

I stayed - or attempted to stay rather at the Vagabond in Chico on 2/28/09. The front desk clerk made up a rate of $89.99 and $10 for each additional person. It was obvious he was making up the rate as we were standing there. Come to find out later the room is $30 less than what he tried to charge us! Anyway, it was already 10pm so we finally agreed to pay the $99 (for a $69.99 room - look online). He walked us up to the room and said for us to check to make sure it was 100% first. When we inquired what we were looking for he said to see if the beds were clean, DISGUSTING! We had our own clean blankets that we brought with us and we decided it was too much of an inconvience to go somewhere else so late. So after checking into the filthy, tiny room where everything was broken including the toilet we left to go see the town. After leaving the bars and getting some food we walked through the pooring rain and returned to our room - only to find out we were locked out! Neither of the two keys worked. One of the jerks at the front desk came and tried it and agreed that it did not work. He said he would be back in 5 minutes because he had to check on another room. 10 minutes later - mind you we are standing in the cold, pooring rain at 3am in an unfamilar city we notice he has return to the office instead. So we go to the office and he informs us to come back in the morning because no one is available to let us in. WTF?? Our ALL our stuff is in the room and of course we refuse to leave without it. His reply is "so what, there is nothing I can do." we begin to argue and it starts to get loud. After anout 10 more minutes of arguing outside he wakes up the manager who finally gives us a new key and tells us to leave immediately if we want a refund. We agree and after 1 minute of us gathering our stuff they call the room and say to get get out! We already were. This was by far the worst lodging experience I have ever had and I travel frequently. I urge everyone to go to the Best Western right down the street if you value cleanliness, good service, nice complimentary breakfast, and the actual standard rate - not one the staff makes up in order to profit. You can't find a place worse than this, I'd rather sleep in my car. than this filthy dump with horrible staff

Friendly & helpful staff; Maintenance attended to promptly; Convenient location, close to Chico State University, restaurants, theatre, City Plaza. Liked the peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are simple and neat, internet access good, amenities and facilities like coffee/tea maker, 24 hours hot water, air conditioning, fridge, microwave, etc. very convenient.
