Howard Johnson Express, Claremont

The stay was good except the hotel is too close to I-10 if you wanna sleep silent. The only thing the I disliked about the room was the bathroom needs a little renovation/replacement of shower parts and bathroom stripping around the door.

I intended to stay there with my 80 yr old aunt, who'd reserved the room for one night through an internet site. She had prepaid. The office area was full of security monitors; if it's a safe place, no need for 4 big monitors, right? But we thought we'd take a chance. We drove to the back of the building to unload, when a busload of teenagers were unloading as well. Oh, no! We proceeded to the room which was just disgusting. It smelled of bad things covered up with disinfectant spray. There was some sort of sticky, awful "schmootz" on the mirror, ceiling and the pictures above the beds. There was a big wad of gum on one of the headboards. We left the keys on the dresser and just left. The cost of that room was $105.00. We drove about a mile up Indian Hills Road and found the lovely Claremont Inn. For $116 we had a beautiful clean, safe, quiet room for the night. My advice, stay the heck away from Howard's.

For the price this is an excellent value. We stayed in the inner rooms and heard no noise. Very friendly and very helpful. Straight shot to cmc. A hassle free experience. We chose this hotel because of the reviews and we were not dissapointed.

Clean, hospitable, restful, quiet on the inner row of rooms. Next to the freeway, but didn't hear it. Service was fine. Continental breakfast was good. Kids loved it. Front desk was very helpful and responsive.

The front desk receptionist was extremely pleasant and good natured. She was a pleasure to work with. I wish there were more people like her in the world. Bless her.
