Take another look at this hotel. It's great now.
The only review below this that is accurate is the one from 2009. The other reviews, from 2006 and earlier, are too old and no longer valid. It has been renovated twice since then, first when it was a Holiday Inn Express. I stayed there in 2008 and it was a very good hotel, so we decided to stay there again in 2010, after it was purchased by Larkspur Hotels. It is even better than before. They did another major redecorating throughout. The room interiors are all new. Ours had a very large flat panel TV with a beautiful wood entertainment center that allowed connecting of your own devices to the system. The beds are new and very high quality. Modern art graces the walls so it looks more upscale than the the price would suggest. The free breakfast until 9:30 AM is healthy and has a wide variety of items and beverages that you can eat inside or outside. The view of the mountains from the hotel is stunning, plus it is next to a nature preserve and a hiking/biking trail. Eight new Specialized cross-bikes with locks are available for free resident use. The staff is very helpful, especially Desiree who is very knowledgeable about what to do and where to go in the surrounding area. The town of Mill Valley is delightful. Our room was clean and our maid was friendly. We got a good multi-night package price through AAA Travel Service. The hotel is very close to San Francisco, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, but in a much better area than staying in the city itself. Highly recommended.
