Terrible Service from Bar tender to Sales rep.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/08
The customer service was totally awful. The bar tender was rude and refuse service to my quest. She spoke to me as if I was a child. She charged for drinks from people she claimed was my quest who didn't pay. She charged for water in a glass. Rodney Koley or what ever couldn't understand him because he spoke too fast. He was very rude. He hung up in my face. I tried to call him back 4 times and he never called me back. He faxed a letter to my brothers employer (director/manager) in another state who had nothing to do with this matter. We called for room service they never showed. I fill like we were treated like this because of our color.

It is what it is
By Tee L, 06/02/08
A wonderfully convenient location and overall a completely acceptable place for a brief stopover. Service was friendly and the room quite acceptable despite being perched directly over one of So. California's infamous freeways. (Okay, the pool is located a scant five feet or so from that same freeway, so just talking to the person in the chair next to you requires a near-shout, but who stays in a Santa Monica hotel for the pool?) Luxury it ain't. Serviceable and convenient, however, it is.

Would definitely stay there again!
By nanlisa, 12/26/07
I stayed at this hotel for my 21st birthday back in 1978. The location is just simply excellent. Imagine: having the Santa Monica Pier, the beach, stores, and a bus route into West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and downtown Los Angeles right there at your front door. The room that I stayed in was on the fifth floor and had an excellent view of the beach, the Pacific Ocean, and the city of Santa Monica. It was cheap at the time because my father, my brother, and I all stayed together in one room. But now 29 years later, I'm on a limited income, so I don't know if I can afford to stay there. But if I did, I would definitely stay there again! September 27-October 5, 1978 was the only time that I actually stayed there.

Bed bugs
By Becky, 11/20/07
I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Santa Monica the last week of August (4th floor). The last night of my stay, I woke up around 2am, got up for a minute, when I came back to bed, there was a small brown bug crawling on my bed. I grabbed a tissue and walked back into the bathroom to flush it. When I came back out, I noticed a larger dark brown bug crawling on the other bed. Same process. And same result - I sat on my bed and watched one, then two small brown bugs crawl out and onto the sheets. Then two more. And another larger bug. I called the front desk and asked them to move me to a different room immediately. They did. A few days after I returned home, I woke up covered in bites. They were odd bites, grouped in threes (which I found out is a bed bug calling card), and really itchy. Doing some research, I learned that these are signs of bedbug bites and the pictures I found matched the bugs I saw in the room. I arranged for an exterminator to come look; I actually caught two of the bugs for her to look at (one small one, one bigger one). The exterminator confirmed that they were indeed bed bugs, the baby and adult versions. I was bitten every few nights until the exterminator was able to complete the treatment. Given that I saw the bugs in the hotel room and I know I didn't bring them in (no prior recent travel and no bug bites in the week before I stayed there, with the bites being so bad that I would have known if I had them before), the bugs came from this hotel. Given the reaction I received from the hotel ("oh, gee, that's too bad") I don't know if they have checked the room or had an exterminator in to get rid of the bugs.

Fantastic Location!
By nicole, 04/25/07
We were only traveling to Santa Monica for one night so we could take our kids to the pier. We knew we wanted to stay somewhere close to the pier, we didnt want to have to drive or carry the kids to far if they got to tired. This hotel is practically ON the Pier! The room was clean and nice, but very small. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was small but still easy to get two kids in and out of the bath quickly after a day at the beach. The staff was very helpful, and knowledgeable. They gave us directions and travel times to the Burbank airport and were very helpful in pointing out places we might want to see on our way. I would not recommend the restaurant. We ate breakfast there and it was slow and the food was not very good. That was the only issue we had while there. If you are looking for a hotel close the the pier, this is IT! We would definetely stay at this hotel again if we were going back to the Pier.

Overpriced & Poor Service
By Yamin, 04/16/07
We paid over $200/night and we end up stay a room just above bus stop. I can tell you the room number is 209. So, if you still decide to stay there, just to avoid to stay in 209, unless you enjoy be wakeing up by noisy bus.. We have a package shipped to hotel, and we call 5 days advance to double check with this hotel that they will receive the package for us, but when we arrive there, there is no package for us and when we check with UPS, it turns out hotel refused my package. They "SAID" they never refuse any customer package. My case is the fist one, they did appoloy to us and willing to resolve the shipping but it did not resolve the first time since the package haven't return back to sender yet. It's our vacation, we do not have time to sit down with them next day. So, we decide to call the company by ourself when we back home. We definitely will not go back to this hotel again in the future.

Overpriced!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/07
Our employer paid nearly $200 for a double for one night - we would NEVER pay this much, it isn't worth it! Our room was clean but totally average, and overlooked the Pacific Coast Highway! We were treated to the sound of traffic all night, so it's just as well the windows didn't open. Being two blocks from the famous Santa Monica Pier is not a good trade-off for this. We ate breakfast in the hotel dining room. EXCELLENT SERVICE, but the food was horribly overpriced. For two of us, with tip, it came out to $30. Nothing special, just a basic egg, meat & bread dish each, plus coffee. THIRTY DOLLARS!!! Ridiculous.

Holiday Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/06
We arrived from Asia after 23 hours flying, the staff was welcoming and friendly. The room we asked for was available and after some dinner on Ocean Drive we were able to crash for the night. The I-10 traffic was rather loud outside our room, but fortunately we were too tired to be (too) bothered by it. The main negative points were the really dusty condition of the rooms and the smell of urine on the street around the hotel block. I do not understand how they can not keep that clean and tidy, would make so much more sense. Location is great, we walked to 3rd street (and even to Main), drove to Venice Beach and Montana Avenue. (Internet was free in the room, very nice)

Great Location, Nice Hotel!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/06
The location was perfect. The price we got was amazing. We loved our room, they upgraded us. Lots of little extra's in the room. Could walk to anywhere. We'll stay here again. Close to the Pier, Venice Beach, two shopping districts. Some people say the highway noise bothered them, but it didn't bother us. be prepare to pay $20 extra for parking per night. But we would definitely stay there again!
