Hitching Post Motel, Santa Cruz

Great location and really cozy rooms, helpful staff. It is close to everything! Highly recommend it.Our room had a very nice king bed, great bathroom with a good shower.The service was friendly, the breakfast and snacks were good and we felt really relaxed and comfortable. I would definitely come back.

It shows $49 a night and we paid $159 and was told they through in a complimentry kitchenette, and when we got into the hotel the Microwave, Oven, and Coffee Maker (with no coffee) did not work. There where NO wash cloths availible and when called front desk for just enough towels for the four of us. We were told we had to go pick them up at the front desk. They also claimed to have a heated pool which was as cold as the ocean! There was no clock, pencil or paper, and not even a local phonebook. At 12:00 midnight the electricity went out so what food we put in the fridge went bad. And then we had to sleep on mattresses and boxsprings that were as old as the hotel it self, and nobody dared to roll over in fear of waking everyone up with the squeak of the dirty mattresses. The sheets and bed covers had burn holes in them. Upon leaving we went to the front desk and complained to the manager he told us, he did us the favor by adding in the kitchenette that we did not ask for, in fact was his last room. We told him that we would complain to the Better Buisniss Bureau and the hotel review web site to let everyone know what a scam he is running. He exclaimed "What am I supposed to do, tear the place down." and we replied "No just fix what is broken" and at that point we relized that we were dealing with an ignorant idiot and we asked for our receipt and left. We hope that this review prevents any future guests from having an unpleasnt experiance like we have had.
