Unfriendly Towards Children + Rude Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/05
When we made our reservations with Best Western we requested an early check-in so that we could put our toddlers down for a nap upon arrival. However, when we tried to check-in an hour and a half before the usual 2pm check-in time we were informed that it's against their hotel policy. Because we couldn't check in until after 2pm our toddlers were tired and cranky because of missing their nap. Understandably they fussed and cried when we first entered our room. We'd only been in the room 10 minutes when the manager, Doug Mayer, called to inform us that we would have to stop our babies from crying or we would be kicked out of our room. Of course we were offended by his rude tone, and his threatening words, and immediately contacted Best Western's customer service to file a complaint. We also contacted the Carmel Chamber of Commerce
where the Visitor Center Manager took up our cause, and made arrangements to get us a refund. We left the hotel immediately and will never go back.
I recommend that anyone considering staying at this property reconsider and find somewhere else to stay (especially people with children). We were dealt with very rudely, and we intend to further report the incident to the Better Business Bureau, AAA, and the Innkeepers Association.
