BEST WESTERN PLUS Blue Sea Lodge, San Diego

The experience was so cool and i loved it so much the place was also so cool!! I would recomend it to others because the place was great,the veiw was great,the front desk was great!! (exept for kathy) she was so old and so mean!! Hey kathy if you are reading this sorry but you suck!!! It was so worth My time and money!!

The Blue Sea Lodge is a failrly consistent hotel with a great location. I usually book a week in August around my family schedule and have gotten pretty good rates for my continued stays there. I have experienced some problems while staying there, but the staff has always accommodated me. My decision to cancel plans for this year is not because of the hotel, or Best Western. It is because of the small minded, uninformed San Diego City council deciding to support a boycott of Arizona over the legal immigration laws of that state. San Diego has had their fair share of economic woes and is in no position to punish Arizona for anything. I spend several thousand dollars each summer in the week I am there and hundreds of millions are spent there by Arizona residents each summer. I will spend my money in Arizona at a five star hotel rather than give it to the California economy. I suggest that this be done by thousands of other Arizona residents, and send a message to California, to clean up your own hypocrite state before criticising Arizona. I lived in San Diego and watched the corruption of the politicians ruin the economy of a great city. I am in the helicopter tour business and I don't care if Califronians every fly with me. My wife and I booked this hotel because of the distance to the beach and the price. All and all we enjoyed our stay but again dont expect much. The room was ok and clean. Cant really complain much. The staff was very helpful. We got a room facing the pool and a partial view of the ocean. It was nice to get up in the morning and walk out right unto the beach. If you are not really going to stay much in the room except for sleeping and getting ready to go to other places then this is not a bad place to get. Several places to eat near by. We ate next door at the restaurant which was good. Alot of places within walking distance to eat like Denny's, IHOP, and Hooters to name a few...

When we arrived back to NZ we found a charge of US$85 on our credit card. When we inquired about this, it was because they claimed we had not returned the safe key. This had been returned earlier in morning and no mention had been said at checkout time. Manager has not responded to our response and reception denied knowledge and we have no other recourse. Sour taste to San Diego and Best Western Hotels.

We paid $300/night for a lovely ocean view, a subpar room. Air conditioner did not work, then the staff was rude about fixing it. They were at the "mercy" of their air conditioning contractor. The queen size couch/pull out bed mattress consisted of a set of metal bed coils wrapped in cloth. The room was beyond average. I might as well have been staying in a Best Western in Roanoke, Texas. I expected more than an ocean view for this price.

Perfect hotel for the family. Right on the beach, heated pool, close to the San Diego attractions. The rooms are large, modern and comfortable. The staff is friendly and willing to make suggestions for siteseeing. We would definitely go back.

When making reservations their reservation system was down...but their staff was surprisingly good about getting back to us as soon as the system was back up and running with our confirmation number. The hotel itself is nothing to look at...it looks more like a motel than a hotel but it is situated right in front of the beach and today we saw dolphins and surfers out there in the Pacific Ocean. Our partial view was very "partial" but it did have a view of the pool and beach - I would not recommend room 323 but room 322 should have a better view. The room was cozy but was mediocre and rather small...there was a nest of pigeons in the balcony light and my wife got attacked (more like scared but I'll use her words). They also have an indoor parking garage...which is huge since the area doesn't look too friendly and there are a lot of people on the boardwalk. Our remote on the TV also did not work...but a simple call to the front desk had a maintenance guy up here in less than 10 minutes. Wonderful service, so far all our needs have been met. Also, there is a restaurant right next to our hotel called World Famous...try the California Omelett - it is delicious. Breakfast right there on the beach overlooking the surfers and people watching on the boardwalk...it was great!! Overall good service but the extras are scarce and if you are looking for luxury this hotel is not for you. This is more for the young and the bargain shoppers.

Location,location,location.Partial or full view rooms offer amazing sunrises and sunsets.Courteous front desk staff help you automatically relax upon arrival.The room was comfortable and clean.I did not spend a whole lot of time in the room,except for sleeping.Vacation spent here was exactly what I was looking for.Thanks Blue Sea Lodge. I WILL BE BACK.

I plan on returning next year. I thoroughly enjoyed the proximity to the water and refreshing balcony. Next year, we're bringing bikes, scooters and skates. I don't want this hotel sold out for next year, so I'll stop here!

The people were extremely nice and helpful, it was clean and located perfectly close to everything we like. We were able to have a nice dinner, drive around, walk around, ride around and make everyone happy. Parking was conveniently located which at the beach is very hard to find. I have been waiting for the next aavailable weekend that we could come again. Your Best Western card is a real plus, it makes all my travels around Best Western a real motivater.
