Solid Boutique in SF

Staying at the Monaco was a most enjoyable experience. From the minute you are greeted at the front door, you know by the dress of the bellman than you are entering a good quality hotel which appreciates a bit of fun. This is compounded both by the architecture in the common areas (including a large fire place for those foggy evenings), the typical Kimpton daily wine taste and little touches, like having a goldfish in your room if you so desire its company.
The rooms are on the small side, have certainly been decorated (just maybe not to my taste) and the beds are certainly comfortable. The staff were generally both knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The location of the hotel is great just being two blocks away from Union square. There is not much nightlife in the area but that goes for Union square in general so its good to have the Hotels Grand Cafe in your back pocket just in case.
