I will not be going back there!
By Celeste, 12/28/08
The only thing I liked about it was the location, otherwise I will not be going back there. The rooms were drafty it needs a lot of work done to them, the elevators did not work the entire time were there, the parking deck is unaccpetable when it rains because it is very slippery when wet which there is no warning of. It took three times going up and down to the lobby to finally get a room where the door would unlock. The rooms need to be updated badly, there is mold all over the place in there. I understand this is an old building but there needs to be improvements and updates very badly. I would not recconmend this hotel to anyone to stay in. my rating is very poor condidtions. It was not worth the money we paid to stay there.

NEVER GO BACK or RECOMMEND
By sadden lady, 06/11/08
We live here in Hot Springs, in March we attended a conference here in our beautiful city. Stayed over night with others who live out of town. I was embrassed to say the least that we recommend the Velda Rose. our rooms were nasty! balcony door didn't close all the way. Bed linens were filthy!!! I don't how they can remain open! Health dept. needs to surprise them with an inspection. Spend more $ and stay at the Emabassy Suites.

I'll never stay there again
By sandra, 05/06/08
I disliked everything about the hotel I ordered 3 rooms last summer and one of the rooms wasn't clean upon my arrival around noon and it wasn't cleaned until around 10'oclock that night when the last of my travel party arrived needless to say they didn't stay went down the street to Travel Lodge. The rooms were dingy and musty and there were patches in the ceiling and holes covered up in the wall. I'm reliving the horrible experience now Overall I liked the city but I will never return to this hotel. It really needs to be shut down and not to mention torned down. Rennovations will do know good.Oh I failed to mention that I paid cash upon checking in and later that night I went down staris to try and get a refund because I didn't want to stay there . Needless to say I couldn't get my money back that was a big issue. The pictures on the website are bogus the rooms don't look like they appear on the website. My rating is zero stars.

DO NOT STAY THERE!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/07
The hotel did not have our rooms clean and it was 6pm when we arrived. We had no toilet tissue or towels. The noise the first night was so bad they had to move us with the help of a secruity officer. The 2nd night was just as bad it was after 2am before the noise stopped just like the 1st night. The elevator is in bad shape and not safe,my husband told me to stay off of it for my saftey. The rooms were dirty and the furniture needs replacing, its all in bad shape. The staff is not very helpfull and it seemed not to bother them that our stay was horriable. The hotel gave our room away twice, and then they told us that they had no record of us being there. They did nothing about the prank calls that we got on our 2nd night. If it were the only hotel in town with a vacancey I'd stay in my car,It's cleaner and more comfortable,it is a waste of money!

Worst Treatment I have ever received
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/07
The room was still being clean even though we arrived at 6 pm. The housekeeper left one towel for 3 people and loose screws on the bed. We were told our room would have a wet-bar, pull-put sofa and mini-fridge, it had none of these. Customer service rolled there eyes at us and refused to get management till we told them what we wanted to complain about. The room felt very dirty and there was evidence of mold in the bathroom. We still never spoke to management. I am still trying to find out who I can write a letter of comaplaint to.

Don't waste your money or time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/24/07
The lobby is deceiving, it looks really nice but do not go up to the rooms. We stayed there in June of 2006. The room was not clean at all. The furniture looks like something you buy at the bad rummage sale. The shower curtain had mildew all on it, the tub was dirty. I was not about to take a shower in there. The whole bathroom was dirty especially around the toilet. YUK!!They tried giving us another room but couldn't fine one that didn't have anything wrong with it. All the cleaning people were gone. The security person came in and tried to the best of his ability I would suspect but it was still not clean. So I asked him to leave the cleaning supplies and I cleaned it myself. They did give me brand new shower courtain though. I will never, never stay there again. It was not maintained at all.

Such a waste!
By Steve, 11/29/06
After checking in, we immediately went to our room and got ready for bed. By this time it was about 11:45pm at night. About 10 minutes later, just before midnight, we were surprised by a very loud group of kids that had most of the rooms on our floor. There were slamming doors, knocks on our door, yelling, screaming, wrestling, fighting, and stomping. Our phone began to ring with prank room calls, kids repeatedly beat on our door, and things were thrown at our balcony window. Trusting that the kids most likely had chaperones, I let the disruption carry on for 45 minutes or so before placing my first call to the front desk. I called and spoke to a man at the desk and informed him of the problem and asked him to send someone up to the floor to handle the situation. He said he would send security up to the floor. After waiting another 45 minutes for any sign of settling or at least to hear the voice of a security guard or a hotel staff member, I placed another call to the front desk. The same man answered and assured me that the problem had already been handled and that he had people up on the floor. After the 15th, or so, prank call I unplugged our phone in an attempt to get a little peace and quiet. My fiancé and I were awake with this racket until 3am in the morning. Never once did we hear anyone try and settle these kids down or have any sign that the hotel even cared to resolve this situation. At 6:30am we were awoken by people banging on our door, screaming at us to wake up and get ready to leave. The racket of the night before all began again and I once again called the front desk. This time I did not call to complain about the noise, but rather to complain that no shampoo or soap had been left in our room. The desk clerk informed me that no one could bring me any of these things but that I could walk down to the desk myself and get them. Are these not items that should be in the room anyway? I will let you know that when we turned on the shower, the shower handle came off in our hand. If that were not bad enough, we then pulled the shower curtain across only to find what looked and smelled like dried, crusty vomit, appointing the curtain. Please do not give this hotel your business. They absolutely will not take any responsibility for any errors made towards a guest. If a problem does arise, they will avoid talking to you as they already have your money and will eventually just lie to you to make you leave. It is important enough for me to write this review in detail so that they will learn that customer satisfaction must be a priority.

Some hotels are just not for everyone
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
I didn't mind the Velda Rose. My room was clean. It had everything in it that I needed. My balcony was a bit creepy but not so bad that I didn't want to go out on it. I was at the hotel with a group of over 300 people. Some liked it, some didn't. The parking deck is a bit had to maneuver especially if your vehicle is a large one. Loved Dad's place down stairs. They allowed one of the members of our group to DJ since the bar was mostly filled with our group. The elevators were a bit scary at times and the ice machines were possesed but nothing that is unual for a hotel of that age. Didn't get a chance to try out the spa but will try next time I go if I stay there. Not saying that I will not stay there again but not saying that I will not either. All depends on the circumstance and the funds available at the time. I did notice that if you used the towels in your room they were not replaced with clean ones but the used ones were removed from the room. I think that is about it.

Will Never Stay There Again!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/06
We were there for 4 days and they only cleaned our room once. The manager was never available and didn't bother to return your call. We changed rooms twice and by the time we checked out they didn't know which room we were in. They even checked someone else into our room while we were still in it. Worst hotel stay I ever had.
