9 reviews for Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge, Mena
sadly disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/09
We arrived at the lodge 9:00pm Friday, Sept 25, 2009. What a gorgeous place. Was told by the front desk we could have the last room for $100.00. No problem. Actually expected to pay more. The entrance and the lobby to the lodge was fabulous. Very clean. Very welcoming. Night front desk accommodating and pleasant. The room decor was above expected. Spacious and comfortable. The only draw back was no view whatsoever. You take what you can get as it was the last room available. However, absolutely NO hot water. Having been on the road all day, it was a disappointment. Told the front desk 7:00am and to their kudos, 9:00 am the maintenance man came to the door. (Called first). We went down to breakfast (which was great for the price) and upon returning to the room, told Casey at the front desk we were still waiting to take showers and might be late checking out. It was 10:30 am (approx.) by then. Casey told my husband, and I quote, "she might be able to give us until noon to check out". Needless to say I was stunned. It was bad enough not being able to bathe the night before, it was frustrating having to wait hours while the maintenance man tried to fix the problem, (which by the way, was not fixed), then being told we could have an extra hour was unbelievable to me. I have been in the hospitality industry all my life. How Casey handled the situation was so unprofessional with no regard for our situation. Not to mention her attitude was beyond rude. The manager did discount our room $20.00. And although I appreciate that, I still have a "SOUR" feeling in my mind regarding your lodge. Had it been my property, I would have A) comped the room, B) given a coupon for a free night stay (upon availability), C) at the very least, $50.00 off. At this point, an apology from Casey at the time, would have sufficed. Having said all this, we still do plan on returning to your property in the near future. The ride is great. Thank you for your time Danny and Tammy Robinson

My favorite place on Earth
By Kiowarose, 12/17/06
Queen Wilhiemena state park and lodge is one of the most beautiful, scenic and romantic places on earth. I love everything about it; the drive up there, the lodging, the food, the hiking trails. I can't wait for me and the husband to go back!

We are from the central part of Texas and our stay at your lodge was the most relaxing time we had every had in the last 20 years. I have recommended the lodge to everyone in our hometown of Hawley, Texas. The most incredible view and hospitality we have ever had. Thank You for a very needed vacation.

Travel The World Over, But Land Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/30/05
I liked the family-like atmosphere. The people there were so friendly and helpful. I loved the large windows where you could get a view of the beautiful mountain. When it is so hot everywhere else it is wonderfully cool up on that mountain. There was absolutely nothing that I disliked about Wilhelmina lodge.

Awsome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/04
This is one of the best mountain top lodges I have ever stayed in. The staff are super friendly and they have a small train that runs all the way around the park. The camp grounds were clean we didn't camp though. The food was an A++. I highly recommend staying here if you ever have the chance to be in Mena, AR.
