OK for your golf experience, nothing special.
By ,
As diamond member I decided to take my wife and a couple of business friends on a one week golfing vacation. Firstly when we checked in the person at the front desk directed us to the lower parking area. I had no idea that it was so far from our room. The four of us struggled with bags and golf clubs and after the second trip to the car were thankful for the help of the maids who placed some of our bags in a golf cart and helped carry the bags to our room. This is the first Hilton I had stayed at that I was not offered bell help for my bags from the from desk. It was our intention to play two courses each day and on the second day after completing 36 holes we decided to have dinner and drinks at the pool side bar. Two members of our party arrived at the table at 5:45 and ordered a glass of wine. Upon arriving 5 minutes later, 5:50 I was told they were closing and I could not order. I explained that we had been golfing all day and prefered to eat away from the others in the resturant. The young man working again declined to serve us based upon the fact that he would close in 10 minutes. Strange I thought because the ####### seems to always find a way to please within reason. My guests actually commented they were not impressed. On day three we decided to play one of the courses at the Holton Country Club offered through the hotel. Upon ariving at the first hole we determined that the greens were sanded. Had we been informed prior we would have chosen another course to play. I used my diamond member certificates and the Hilton pro shop was worried about the validity of the certificates and overlooked disclosing an important fact with regard to the sanded greens. Four expensive golf certificates wasted. Ther were also a number of other incidents minior by nature but significant by number. I do not have enough room here to explaine them all and prefer to just close by saying that if a quality experience is what you are after you might look elsewhere. For example we could have stayed at any hotel had we not expected an above average overall experience. As I stated up front there are many Ok hotels for much less.

Are you kidding me?!?!?
By ,
Wow, I was not impressed with this hotel!! I could've stayed another night at a different hotel downtown and had a better & cheaper room, that actually had a refrigerator and a blow dryer!! Our room did not. It was very plain-jane, except for the travertine tile in the cramped bath. Not to mention that the Hilton El Conquistador website does not tell you that they will charge you an additional $25 per person to use the pool areas if they aren't an actual 'guest' in the hotel!!!!! Well, they are my guests, and I'm paying for the amenities, the drinks and food by the pool for them, etc.!! We also had to go all the way through a whole building to get to our building in the middle of the resort. All of us staying there (and others there for our daughters College graduation party) were so stressed out after check-in it nearly ruined our evening -- but because we prepaid, we stayed. I will say that the view of the Catalinas at sunset were spectacular. And, the pool areas were very nice, and clean. The lobby area is inviting also with the nice boutiques.

slight issue and totally resolved
By ,
I've stayed at the conquistador several times now and enjoy it very much. This last time was 4/30/10 we checked in normal had a wonderful day and about midnight someone used a keycard and attempted to enter my room. I sent the extremely confused couple back up to the front desk, bolted my door (this time) and went to sleep. The next morning i spoke with the manager about this the entire staff apoligized to me and seemed genuinely upset and confused that this happened. They moved my wife and i to another room and the rest of our vacation was in bliss at the pool. The only shortcoming was that we couldn't stay longer. We'll be back soon!

Nice grounds and main part of the resort.
By ,
We stayed in a room off from the main grounds that you had to walk up a hill to get to the main grounds. The room was nice it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked I have stayed in less expensive places and they were cleaner. We had some kind of roof critter running on the roof all night, before bark I heard it but though it was birds, but it kept up all night. I know; I was in the desert but man…. I needed ear plugs. We received a key for the wet bar at check in, but we didn’t use it yet I was charged a fee, when I call regarding the charge they said we had used items in the bar. I call a week later after reviewing my bill on line and they said they would recount but I have had not resolve to the issue. So remember not matter what you told make sure you return the key to the desk so no one takes items. If you are going to stay here try to stay up at the main area even if it 20-40 dollars higher then what you being quoted for a room down at the bottom of the hill.

Great place for a getaway
By ,
My girlfriend and I stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend and absolutely loved the place. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and have stayed at many, many Hiltons, and this was one of the best. The room was nice and the views of the hills and golf course from our balcony were awesome. Try out the little par 3 golf course that weaves around the hotel, it's challenging and fun. They rent you clubs for free, too, if you are staying at the hotel. It was a very relaxing time. The only downside was the distance, it's quite a ways from the airport, but so very much worth the drive!

Stayed multiple times
By ,
I have stayed at the El conquistador 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months. I have been in their casitas as well as regular rooms. The rooms are always clean and the staff is always extremely friendly. The pool is nice, clean and not horribly crowded. They don't charge a resort fee and there is ample self parking. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Very pleasant stay
By ,
We found this resort just beautiful. The views of the Catalina Mnts was fantastic! The hotel is close to all Tucson's great adventures (4th Ave, Titan missle silo, air/space museum, old Tuscon amusement park, etc.). The waterfalls, big slide, restaurants, pool-side bar, room location - were all perfect. We'll stay here again particularly b/c of the price-value. One request I would have would be a refrigerator in the room. Otherwise, the room/bathroom was large and comfy.

Great Corporate Location
By ,
Attended a conference on site, with great facilities. Room was fantastic, food great, and the little extras that you expect were there. Spa Treatment was 1st class, charges for the exercise room were a bit much. And the Golf course was tough.
