Our Honeymoon at El Tovar
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/07
We were treated extremely well by all with whom we came in contact with at El Tovar. It was reminesent of the 5 Star Hotels we've stayed at in other lovely locations. The extra care by those at the reservations desk is much appreciated. The room was roomy and comfortable, and the meals were delicious. The scenery cannot be outdone anywhere. It snowed and was just lovely and the grandeur was unsurpassable. We throughly enjoyed our special time there and will be back!

An extraordinary experience we will repeat!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/07
On our trip to the Grand Canyon in January 07, we had stayed at the EL Tovar Hotel what a WOW experience we had from the minute we enter into the hotel till the time we left. Everyone who work there treated us if we were the only guests. We had gotten the romance package and it was well worth it. Our room was very well kept and cozy. In the dinning room, the wait staff, the food and atmosphere was OUTSTANDING, both for dinner and breakfeast. If you are looking for a place to stay on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon the Hundred year old EL Tovar hotel is the only place to stay for that WOW experience your are looking for. WE WIIL BE BACK! Sue King Michigan

Not to be missed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/06
This elegant, historic property located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon should be included in everyone's visit to the area. The staff is exceedingly accommodating, the dining room cuisine (don't miss the Streusel Apple Pie) and the location are spectacular. The beautiful, inviting fireplace another highlight. Without hesitation, I would stay here again and would certainly suggest it to others.

Would never dine here again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/06
Ate breakfast at the El Tovar dining room. Terrible experience. Lipstick smudges on the glasses, crusty spots on the silverware. Coffee served cold. Other tables had similar complaints. Food was mediocre at best. Potatoes were burned on outside, raw on inside. Huge disappointment; would never consider eating there again. Staff was friendly, efficient, but seemed pretty used to the dirty dishes and the cold coffee - not a good sign. Grossly over-priced and over-rated. Many other restaurants in the Canyon - highly suggest going to one of them.

When booking on the internet you never really know what you are getting yourself into - We were elated by what we found, heaven on earth, quiet, beautiful, the most perfect place - the El Tovar is just what we needed !!!!!

Live History
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/10/06
The perfect Grand Canyon trip would be to stay in this 100 year old Hotel after riding to the Canyon on the Steam powered train from Williams, AZ. Talk about Old West atmosphere well this place has it from the log cabin construction to the American Big Game trophy's mounted on the walls along with the paintings of the Canyon and Native Americans. Get up early and you can sit in a chair on the front pourch and watch Mule Deer and rabbits eat the grass on the front lawn. Did I mention that the Hotel is right on the canyon edge? Wow!

Honeymoon Hot Spot
By KenF, 5/18/06
My new wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in January of 2001 and had a wonderful time. Turn-of-the-(20th)Century charm. A cozy bar and a fine dining restaurant added to our enjoyment of the El Tovar Suite with the Grand Canyon around us in all its winter splendor. The Suite is located on the 3rd (top) floor of the hotel on the north side, closest to the canyon and the view was breathtaking. The room has its own private, spacious patio. Pay no attention to one star reviews from people THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE!!!

Wonderful Hotel
By KELLY, 3/6/06
Our first night we stayed at the Thunderbird and had a terrible night's rest. The next night we upgraded to the El Tovar and we thought it was one of the highlights of our whole vacation. The room was very spacious and we had a partial canyon view. The resturant was worth the cost, it is a 4 star after all. I do think you need to stay on the lobby level floor or above or you might not like the room. The staff was great and the lobby with the fireplace was very cozy. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
