bed bugs!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/11
We checked in on 1/5/2011. The staff was very friendly. We brought our suitcases up to the room, then went sightseeing. We returned at about 5P.M. My daughter and I were relaxing on the bed, only to find bugs crawling all over her and her suitcase. I immediately pulled back the bedding and saw bed bugs in both beds. I phoned the front desk and the employee came up to check. She changed our room and I asked how to get rid of the bugs. She instructed us to wash our things in hot water. I asked if she was going to pay our laundry costs. She gave me $2.00! We needed 2 washers ( that was all they have) at $1.00 each, then we had to buy detergent and dry the clothes. $2.00 wasn't enough. I took all my daughters clothes while she took a shower and sat in a towel waiting for the clothes to be done. She threw up over the disgust of the situation. When I was in the room waiting for the clothes to dry I was phoned by the front desk complaining that I was using the machines and not leaving any for any other guest! There are only 2 washers and 2 dryers! I took our clothes out damp, and returned to our room so my daughter could get dressed. My daughter's new coat got ruined, since it shouldn't have been washed, but we didn't have much choice. We then took our stuff and said we wanted to check out. Spending a night here was out of the question. I was then handed a bill for $80.50! I said I could not believe I was being charged for the stay. I was told to call and speck to a supervisor the next day. I figured I would get a refund on my credit card, but to this date I have not!
We then went to find a hotel to stay at. We stayed at the Extended Stay hotel, which was a lot nicer and only $15.00 more. I was afraid I was going to contaminate their hotel with the bugs. We washed our clothes 3 more times, as well as putting our suitcases in the shower to kill those as well. Because we couldn't wash our shoes, we both felt like we may still have some crawling into our clothes, etc. The rest of our trip we were constantly fearing we had not killed them all. Any itch was making us inspect our bodies. It has been a horrible experience. I only hope that we did not carry any of them home and now my home will be infected. The staff was friendly. I will say that. I understand that bedbugs are a problem. I guess it could happen even in the best hotels. But to be charged for the room, asked not to occupy all the machines ,and be given $2.00 was an insult that I can not forgive. If you want to stay at this hotel, be sure to pull back the bedding before you bring anything in the room! It sure would have saved us a huge inconvenience., and the cost of a new coat for my daughter!
