Recent Trip : August in Kantishna
In all of my Alaska traveles, my recent trip to the Kantishna Roadhouse in Denali Park would have to be at the top of the list.
The scenery was absolutely amazing and the roadhouses' grounds were immaculate. The lodge offers many activities from mountain biking, to fishing in Moose Creek, to hikes in and around Wonder Lake - we were never with a lack of something to do.
The accommodations were the nicest and cleanest I have encountered in Denali Park. The roudhouse is owned by a native corporation and much of the staff and guides were from various villages in alaska. It was very informative to be able to meet these people and talk about their backgrounds, families, and lifestyles. The whole staff was exceptionally nice and always helpful.
Over the course of the week we were there, there were many different presentations and activities hosted by the lodge in the evenings. they were a very nice way to break up the long days and nights.
The food was good and the dining room was very nice. The lodge also has a full service bar which we enjoyed. We never went without - there was always something nice to snack on, and coffee in the crafs.
This lodge lends itself to relaxation. It was very quiet in the evenings and mornings. One morning we actually missed a 7:am hike because we slept in.
The busses were great, the people were great, the guides were great, and the grounds were great. I reccomend this trip to any couple or family.
