They should be charged with false advertising for calling this Beachside. It is actually across a very busy highway from the hotels that are truly "beachside". Other than this, a non-smoking room should not smell like cigarette smoke. At least the smoke smell kept us from smelling the mildew in the tiny bathroom. Everything in the room seemed really old and on its last legs. This place should be put out of its misery. The price seemed pretty good, but with a little searching, you can find much better hotels for the same price, that, like this one, are NOT on the beach. These other places also have friendly and helpful employees. At this place, not so much.
The carpet and couch in our room were both way past their prime. Our "non-smoking" room had ashtrays in it and reeked of smoke. When my wife called the front desk to report this and ask for another room, the woman who answered was very rude and said someone probably only smoked one cigarette there. She refused to move us and said we could go to another hotel if we didn't like it. The manager promised to give us a discount when I talked to him the following morning, but changed his mind before he did our invoice. I can't believe folks are that rude and uncaring. We will never stay there again. Much better hotels are available in that area in the same price range. I highly suggest you look at other options. You will be glad you did.
When I was a kid, my family would make frequent trips to Gulf Shores. We always stayed at The Ramada, across from the beach. This summer, I took my family to the same hotel - only the name has changed. I was delighted to find out that this was the same place where I had so many great memories. It is across the street from the beach, but the walk is not bad at all. My only suggestion to the owners would be for them to improve the continental breakfast. It wasn't as nice as I expected. I think the manager heard us complaining because on the second day, there were a few more items out - mostly pastries. The staff was extremely friendly; the rooms were very nice and large, and the location was perfect! We'll definitely visit again.
The hotel really is just steps away from the beach. It was not hard to cross the street at all. We had a king room which also had a sleeper sofa. The room was very large and clean. It's not luxury, but it was nicer than I thought that it would be from some other reviews that I read. Why pay $100 more to stay just across the street? The 3rd floor pool was very nice also. It is right across the street from Bahama Bob's resturant. Eat there! Save your money and stay across the street!
We stayed on the second floor in room 201 (Smoking & King). It was nice and had a good bit of room.
The "deluxe continental breakfast" consisted of honeybuns, pecan wheels, and some other snack cakes. We didn't eat there, we ate at the Waffle House that is right down the road.
The hotel has a tiki bar on the 1st floor, they have great margaritas and they serve some food. That was probably the best thing about this hotel.
You don't have a perfect view of the ocean, but if you go on to the pool deck there is a small piece of the ocean that is viewable from the hotel.
Overall it was a nice stay at this hotel. My only real complaints are the breakfast and I thought it was a little expensive for 2 nights and 2 people ($245), because for about a $150 more I could have been right on the beach and had a good breakfast without having to leave the hotel.
We called the motel directly to make reservations before we read everything on their website. After talking to the man who answered the phone, we were led to believe that the motel was ON the beach and that we would have a beach front room. We were told that our room would be on the third floor, facing the beach. When we arrived, not only was the motel a block away from the beach, but they had put us in a downstairs room on the back side, facing nothing in particular. While we still en route, I had called ahead to make sure our room would be ready and was told it was. When we got to the room, it was obvious the room had been used - for what, heaven knows. One bedspread was rumpled and there were wet towels on the floor and a wet bathmat on the bathroom floor. I called the main desk, and told the desk clerk about my conversation with the man who took our reservation and about the condition of the room. Her comment was, "Don't yell at me for something someone else said." After some discussion among the family, we decided we'd stay in the room if they'd bring us fresh linens. We never got them. When we left the next morning, the dirty towels were still on the floor where we left them. Good thing we had brought towels from home. The bathroom was so small, the doorknob hit you in the face when you sat on the toilet. The tile floor was dangerously slick and the soap was microscopic. The only good things I can say about it are the beds were comfortable, the AC worked and there was good sound baffling. We didn't hear anyone else and the plumbing didn't make funny noises.
I booked this hotel because the website made it look great and it was a great price. The outside of the hotel looked nice, but when we checked into our room, it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke (and it was a non-smoking room). There was hardly any toilet paper, no tissue paper, no coffee maker, the lamp didn't work, there was mildew growing on the bathroom walls and ceiling, and the toilet paper holder was falling out of the wall. We called to request toilet paper and no one ever came. When we called the next day, they told us to go find the maid and ask her for some! I'm sorry...am I a guest in your hotel???!! The free "breakfast" they advertise was coffee, orange juice, and little debbie cakes. That's it. I was sitting in the breakfast area reading one morning, not eating, and when their breakfast time ended at 9:30 they turned out the lights on me. The man at the front desk was very rude. They also turned off our room key 20 minutes before we were supposed to check out and we had to go back downstairs to get them to reactivate it so we could load our stuff into our car. I will NEVER stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!
The service was awful. The room smelled like mildew. The internet service wouldn't work. We had to call the desk and complain about the rowdy people next door to us 3 times before they did anything. It was an awful experience. I would definitely NOT recommend staying here.
I loved Beachside Resort Hotel. The pool, on the 3rd floor, was very neat and clean, and it had a great view of the beach!!!!! The distance from Beachside to the beach was just a few footsteps away, and there was a cool seafood place right in front of the hotel! The rooms very clean, and very roomy. The TV had many channels. I really couldn't decide what to watch. Beachside is just around the corner from all the eateries and gift shops. The stay was not pricy at all
for the many accomodations provided, and I recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!!!!
