A destination hotel!
By ,
I have been to The Grand three times and it just magical. I feel like I have stepped out of an F Scott Fitzgerald novel everytime I come here! It is secluded, scenic and simply beautiful. The piano guy in the Martini bar rocks! Can't say enough about this place...It is Grand!

A Grand, Relaxing Resort!
By ,
This hotel was GRAND indeed! The location of the hotel was so relaxing. We booked an inside room, but were delighted to find that we were upgraded to a Jr. Suite that was right on the point. We were visiting during Memorial Day weekend, so we really felt blessed to be upgraded to such a wonderful room and view. Our suite had water views from every window and the layout of the rooms were perfect with a separate bedroom and sitting room. (featuring a loveseat/sleeper, which was very comfortable for our 13 yo. son.) The BR had a king size bed with a very comfy mattress, and a down comforter. It even featured a large closet , which is very rare in hotels these days. The bathroom was small, but had all the amenities we could want. All the staff were so nice from the gatekeeper to the maids! It was much better than home with so many activities to enjoy. Our son thought the pool was wonderful until we explored the grounds and found so much more to do. We loved riding the catamarans. (Can you believe they were FREE for an hour each day?) We paid $20 to have one of the guides give us a sailing lesson and it was money well spent. You could also make use of the kayaks for an hour for free. They have croquet, horseshoes, ping pong tables, a putting green (eqpt. provided free), card games, and bikes (Free rental for one hour a day, then $10 an hour afterwards), and they'll even provide you with fishing gear and a free bucket of bait, too. Take your tennis and golf equipment to enjoy the courts or the greens. (they will rent equipment, too.) Be sure to look at the daily recreational schedule that is delivered outside your door each morning. You can take a horticultural tour of the grounds, a tour of the chef's garden, a bike ride to the Civil War Cemetary, play UNO with other guests, and have an opportunity to parade around the grounds with the crew that fires the cannon each day at 4pm to commemorate war veterans. Although, you'll find it very hard to leave the comfort of the swings or your lounge chair on the beach. Yes, it will be very difficult to leave the hotel grounds....but you won't want to miss visiting the lovely town of Fairhope, either. This hotel was SO RELAXING that we didn't even need the spa. We really could have stayed longer. There was so much to do that we couldn't fit it all in to our 3 day stay. We we will definitely visit again very soon.

great place
By ,
This hotel has history and beauty. A great place to relax, have a massage, sip wine, read a book. Horse back riding, cycles, oaks on the bay. Nice pools, great food, nice bars. A very nice place.

Grand Indeed
By ,
This hotel was a wonderful surprise. The location and the layout were perfect. I really could have stayed longer. Our one disappoinment was the food in the Grand Dining Room. It truly was almost inedible from the stale wonton appetizer to the pourly cooked lamb, etc. what a disappointment. They really deserve a topnotch chef to match the grandeur of this hotel. Every restaurant has an off night but the only thing excellent was the caesar salad the waiter prepared at the table. Just beware....

Family friendly

What a great place to take the kids! From the pier fishing, swimming, and lawn games, this place was a hit for us! Even though we thought we'd never get there, it was well worth the wait.

Spectacular!!!!
By ,
I love this place. It's a beautiful and romantic place for couples. And the customer service is excellent. As far as the customer service goes, it's wonderful, you have valet that parks your car, you have bell boys that take your luggage to your rooms, and you have other general employees that greets you with a smile, which makes you feel very welcome. The staff is very helpful as far as helping you find your way around the site. You have workers on golf carts that will give you a lift from one side of the site to another, that's GOOD customer service. The rooms are very roomy, clean, and comfortable. They have beautiful intierior decorations as well as beautful grounds. The man made beach is so beautiful you wouldn't think it was man made. The pool is so awesome and big, my little brother never wants to leave it, he thinks its close to the best thing in the world.

New Experience and worth the trip
By ,
We stayed here for 4 days and it was so worth it. My son stayed in the pool as much as possible. That was his favorite part and mine also but watch out for the seagulls flying over the pool. I got some wonderful vacation pictures. The Gulf was also an added treat with the beach and water. The jellyfish were everywhere and we didn't go in the water but other that that it was nice. The rooms were so pretty and comfortable. We did not dine here because the food was rather expensive but it gave us a reason to venture outside the hotel. We really had a great time. The hotel also had alot of history attached to it and that made it even more special considering my husband majored in History and my son loves history as well. Thanks for everything.
