Enjoyed it but we had a few problems

Were very happy on arrival. Were there for 10 days and found staff very helpful and friendly and the food in the outdoor restaurant was very good. But we had problems with the toilet in our room - it kept blocking and flooding and we were told that the system was quite old and it happened often. We also found cockroaches in the room and coming from Ireland found that very off putting. So a mixed report really.Location brilliant great views of the sea and the pool was lovely too.

Super Resort

I have stayed here twice and yes it is $ priced high. but this resort has it all, and makes for the perfect spot for familes of 6 or more. all the rooms are fitted to sleep 6 with 2 king & and a sofa sleeper. The pool is the best in the area * the service is tops. The location is not great for the Clearwater Beach activity you will have to drive and park for that. but only 5 min. You can enjoy the Sand Key Shops next door.

great stay

Marriott staff couldn't have been any nicer or more helpful. The view is fabulous...I drank my coffee on the balcony every morning watching dolphins and pelicans get breakfast in the intracoastal waterway. One morning we even saw 2 manatees. The suite set up is great as kids and parents can get their own space. The rate was a bit expensive but once you are there, it really is worth every penny. Would go back without question.

DON"T STAY HERE

Had the room cost $100 per night it would be great, but at $300 it is obviously a cash cow for Marriot. Caulking around tub filthy, one light bulb in bathroom was never replaced during our stay, door lock on bathroom needed to pushed just right or it wouldn't come unlocked, frame around mirror in bathroom spliting apart, sofa bed mattress was half its original height and even with the extra thick cover they brought us I am still sore from sleeping in it a week later, the fridge was iced up and didn't cool, the furnishings we tired, the shampoo bottle was a conditioner bottle with an S on it in some type of nail policsh, the cold water tap on the bathroom sink would not shut off unless pushed just right. As I said all the things I expect at Motel 8, but that is being tough on Motel 8.

What a place!

What I loved: The parrott in the lobby, the quick (and early) check-in, the poolside cabanas, the family night parties and movies, the location, the staff, and the size of the room. The staff were pleasant, and went out of their way to ensure I had the things I needed. The waitress remembered my name and my drink order from the previous evening! What I disliked: The red tide (not really their fault) with the smell of the dead fish floating toward the shore.

Turn Around

Started off bad - couldn't get the King Size requested. One of the many people who asked how we were doing got a negative reply from me on the room situation. Shortly thereafter I got a phone call, bottle of wine and cheese and my room re assigned. They did great. The rest of the stay was perfect - nice food, drinks, music, concierge services - right down the line it was terrific. They asked how we were doing and they actually cared about your answer - Marriott delivered.
