Sad Day
By ,
The Old English Inn was a wonderful place with a great Christian couple running it and you could tell by the decor, the Christian flag flying proudly out front and the Bibles open on the desk. They were always willing to help people who had problems with housing. It is a real shame the Hotel was taken away from Chip and Sarah to give to Union University to house 120 students for 4 months. I think Englewood Baptist Church had good intentions in helping Union University but they should follow up on their promise to take care of the Coughlin's. I was at Church the night the decesion was made to take the Hotel away from the Coughlin's and Both Pastor Ben and Paul Priddy said the Coughlin's would be taken care of before the Church voted to take the Inn from them and start the Jett. I don't think this is right. The have not been taken care of at all and I understand Dr. Jett took Chip to see a lawyer. Why should Chip and Sarah sholder all the responsibility for a quick decision to put almost 400 students through the rest of the year and only 125 showed up for 3 months. It was a wonderful place in Jackson for 30 years and it is sad to see it gone especially under these circumstances.

I would go back
By ,
I liked the atmosphere of the hotel. I thought the hotel was inviting. The room had good space. The things I did not like is that the vending machines did not work properly and that there was a water bug in the bathroom crawling on the mirror. I feel that there could have been some resturant menus in the room to order out. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay at the Inn.

What a Beautiful Place!
By ,
It was not a happy visit for me because I was in Jackson for the funeral of my brother who passed away December 21. It was a very difficult time for me and I was not looking forward to the stay but I have NEVER been treated better by strangers than I was during my stay at the Old English Inn. The management, desk staff, restaurant staff and all were so kind and helpful. It was a time of complete devastation for me and they made me feel like family making sure I was as comfortable as possible. What a blessing! I wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful Inn and the wonderful people who work there!

What a wonderful treat
By ,
Our children booked us this hotel for the Christmas holiday. We spent two nights and loved every minute of it. We liked the security, the front desk staff was very helpful and very friendly. We were looking for a particular place and the front desk located it for us and called to make sure they were open. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone. The Christmas decorations in the hallways were absolutely fabulous. I've never seen anything so beautiful. It was a restful retreat.

Picky Travellers
By ,
The Inn was incredibly beautiful. The atmosphere very luxuriously old fashioned. The staff was cheerful and very accomodating. The price was terrific and it was very different. We stayed 2 nights. The first night we stayed on the ground floor. The drapes were blackout but as our title suggests we are picky and do not travel much...and found the light from the parking lot right outside our window too bright. So the second night we opted for a room on the second floor away from the parking lot. and that was pitch black(just right!).The beds were good and the pillows small but adequate. the ground floor room Bathroom needed to be updated. The tile on the shower/tub walls was coming off & in need of repair.A heater or heat light would have been very appreciated. There was no fan in the bathroom. The towel rack brackets (over the toilet) was coming out of the wall and falling off. The toiletries were unique and fragrent. We are allergic to fragrences and wished for another bland choice. The Second night were were on the top floor and the T.V. didn't work. The bathroom in the king room was a one unit tub/shower and much nicer, with a fan but again, no heater. Around 11:30 pm a family with a small child came tromping up and the child ran about loudly up & down the hall for awhile. Sigh ! Breakfast was very warm and friendly. The fireplace blazed cheerfully and the attendent to the contenintal breakfast was really nice. Waffles with syrup or strawberries, hot & cold packaged cereal, juice & hot drinks were available. Note: it does not seem to be the Tennessee thing to have decaf tea available, though coffee was. Toast & bagels are NOT the norm in anyplace we went. Dinner in the restaurant was nice and the staff outstanding. Again, we found most items to be fried or with gravey. This seems to be the norm in Tennessee. Note that it is a Christian establishment, a fact that shines through moslty in the service, and in the fact that they do not serve alcohol. A simply beautiful, friendly place to eat or stay. On the whole it was not very full and so mostly quiet.Nov 7th & 8th.

Old English inn

This hotel was formerly the Dheraton Four Points. The location is adjacent to an excellent bagel shop (Bubbas), and near to Vann drive and several shopping areas associated with the area. It is also nearby to Gold's Gym for the active types.

Worst ever
By ,
I travel a lot for work and was booked into this hotel by work. I arrived on a monday afternoon, and that night i awoke being bitten by fleas. After catching some to show the front desk, i was relocated to another room. The night clerk was very understanding and friendly. The next day i spoke to mangement to see about a comment on this flea issue. I was blow off with the comment that bad guest sneak thier pet's into the hotel via the backdoors and they were not at fault. After searching the lobby area and thier own web-site the no pet policy is NOT posted. So the lack of taking responsibility for the investation in thier hotel rooms is disapointing. If the hotel was kept cleaner it could be a very unique place to stay.

Unique Antique Atmosphere!
By ,
We've been stopping here for 30 years or more, beginning when the restaurant on the hwy was also the Olde English Inn and was packed with English antiques. Restaurant was excellent, and the front rooms were made up with antique reproductions. Service has always been friendly and helpful. My favorite motel. Recently the church next door bought the property when a chain was going to close it, and a former CEO is operating it. I hope they succeed sos we can stay there many more years. The restaurant had closed and only breakfast and Sunday lunch served now. But there are plans to expand restaurant service, which may have happened by now.
