Island Inn, St Simons Island

My teenage daughter and I spent the better part of a week in this hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is an older style of hotel/motel, but the grounds are beautiful as is the surrounding area. We found it suited our needs perfectly as it was close to everything on the island that we wanted to see, and was very quiet and peaceful. The pool went a couple of days without cleaning, but it was not a big deal -- and since it was mostly pretty pink blooms that were on the surface, it was actually kind of "spa-like" in a way! The continental breakfast is very basic, but hit the spot. There is also a large group of feral cats that congregate every night in the parking lot, but they are harmless and actually stay well out of your way. We will very probably come back with the whole family and stay here again.

This was not a hotel but a cheap motel that we paid a hotel price for. The best elements were the office staff and pool, that is about all I can say. The rooms were clean but in need of refurbishing, the bed was sagging toward the middle. The a/c did not work properly and changed from hot to cold repeatedly through the night while we were trying to sleep. The shower curtain rod was falling down and bathtub and sink filled with water and did not drain properly. The pool area was not kept clean and the tables were filthy. They still serve a continental breakfast and have not seemed to catch up to the rest of the small hotel/motels in the world with a hot, healthier meal. All in all it looks cute on the outside, but once you get in the room you will be disappointed.

This was a terrible hotel! There were no towels available , we had 4 people in our room and were only given 2 towels. The walkways and stairs were dirty, unswept and covered with cigarrette butts. The management was unresponsive and still have not tried to make us happy!

Site chosen for convenience to location of wedding at Epworth by the Sea. Block of rooms reserved. Area was quiet. By no means could this be qualified as an inn ... it is an old fashioned motel. Room location & rate incorrect on arrival for a number of guests.. Incompetent staff. Understaffed. Walkways, balconies & poolside littered with leaves & trash. Shower water pressure could be described as a trickle. Clean towels not available until late afternoon. Table in room had to be moved to allow air from ac unit to circulate. Very small rod for hanging clothes is open and adjoins bathroom sink. The 2 buildings are not connected on the 2nd level making it user unfriendly. Only one ice machine & vending area located on the ground floor. No lobby seating space. Fence around pool locked at 10:00 p.m. forcing guests to move outside onto the sidewalk to visit with friends and relatives. Could make many more comments, but will sum up by saying I would rate this location as a $39.95 per night motel.
