Smoke House Hotel, Bury St. Edmunds

While visiting son in the US Airforce (Base very near this hotel), we stayed at this hotel for 5 days and experienced the true feeling of the English Country! Beautiful hotel with an English cottege feel. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Beautiful English gardens surrounded the hotel. Had a Rose bush growing right outside our window which provided wonderful aromas when the windows were open. Our stay included an English Breakfast every morning which was served in the main dining room of the hotel. Wonderful China and beautiful table cloths on every table. Very good food and of course wonderful cups of tea provided. Noting like English tea! Didn't get to sample the lunches or dinner, but enjoyed an evening drink in the hotel pub everynight. We enjoyed talking with the many English and Scottish visitors at the hotel, very friendly atmosphere! Our American dollar wasn't of great value againt the English pound, so can be a little expensive, however well worth the extra money. We highly recommend this hotel and the kind people who helped us during our stay in England while visiting son we have missed very much.
