Ship 'n Shore Motel, Saugatuck

It's an older place, very basic, but on the water. The decor was "retro", but comfortable. Loved the location, we walked everywhere! I'm used to staying at modern, higher scale lodging, but ... will be back! The location was perfect for us.

Location is perfect. Everything is spotless. Garden & pool perfect. Their staff was wonderful. Have stayed elsewhere in Saugatuck and will come back here again without a doubt.

I'm actually shocked at the reviews for this hotel / motel. My wife and I stopped there earlier this year. The prices were HIGH for such a place. I think we paid $120 / night, off season (April). The rooms were horribly decorated, like we were lost in some cheap 70's motel. The place was really a dump. We vowed to NEVER go back. The service was fine there... and the location itself was okay... so don't get me wrong, we didn't have a bad visit or anything. We just really felt for the crappy room we got, and the high price we paid for it, there are so many nicer places to stay.

If you are looking for the quaint B&B, this is not for you. If you are looking for the best value in Sauguatuck, this is it! Rooms are not large, but the grounds are beautiful and it's the only pool in the downtown. The place is very very clean, and staff is friendly and helpful. I love that we can park the car and walk all over the area and not have to worry about drinking to much at dinner. My husband and I have been staying at the Ship N Shore for over 15 years, and always enjoy our stay not only at Motel, but the city as well. We have reservations for the this year too.

After spending 1 week in Savannah Ga. on Tybee Island Ship N Shore was a god send. I took my mother and two adult daughters to Tybee Island for a weeks vacation and when I got bact home I took my husband to Sagatauck for our anniversary. The service at Ship N Shore was top notch, the room was spotless and very cozy, our location to everything was perfect. I had more fun in Sagatauck then on Tybee Island. We asked for a recommendation to a good restaurant from one of the sweet staff at Ship N Shore and she recommended Marro's Italian restaurant for good foor and good drinks...she was right on the best service, food and drinks!! If you've never been to Sagatauck (our first time there) you really must go!! Be sure to stay at Ship N Shore it was more then we expected. B&GSmith

I wished it allowed pets,but all in all it is always a graet place to stay where you can leave your car and just see the sights.

Went for 1st time on 5/18/07. Loved it. Like stepping back to 1966. Don't expect a Conrad Hilton, just a nice hotel with super friendly staff, and a great location. Going back for Independence Day.

In February we drive up to Saugatuck just to make reservations at Snip N Shore for Memorial Day Weekend. My family was looking forward to a visit to Saugatuck for the weekend. We called to make sure everything was in place for us to come and found out that we weren't on the books and they had no openings. Very upset!

I stayed at Ship n Shore with my wife on the weekend before labor day. We stayed in a room upstairs overlooking their beautiful garden with a view of the water. The setting was so peaceful, and other guests were great to talk with. My wife and I have stayed at the Timberline, Bestwestern, Lakeshore Resort, AmericInn Motel, Rosemont and now Ship n Shore. The thing that I think sets Ship n Shore apart from the rest is the customer service. The motel is 1960s style, and the rooms are small and older, but very clean. If you can get past the outside appearance that needs work, the inside is nice. The staff like I said is great. The housekeepers were very friendly and very polite. The front desk employees were friendly as well and very accommodating. The staff basically made my stay worth it. Sheila the Manager, and the young man that seems to always be there were both very nice and fun to talk with. They really went out of their way to make this stay enjoyable for us. I strongly recommend this place, and I know I will be back again next year. Word of advice get there early, parking is extremely hard to find!!! This is only my opinion so take it for what its worth. I hope it helps any of you looking to find a great place to stay.

The motel is in a great location !!! You could not ask for a better spot.. The rooms are small and old, and if your picky about bathrooms this place is not for you ! We will stay again because of the location.
