Great Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/07
The staff is wonderful at making your stay so comfortable. I stayed 3 different times during the Iditarod RAce and the staff was sure to have my bags already in my room upon my arrival. This was the best hotel during my two week trip to Alaska. Great location, right on the start of the Race. Breakfast included was a treat! Hope to come back soon.

Won't stay there again
By T, 2/9/07
When I called to make reservations I was told I should go through a travel agent because I would get a better rate??? If I weren't already planning on staying there I would have been put off by the fact that she didn't seem to want to deal with me at first. Odd..The floors are sloped...historic means old .... time for some remodeling. The staff were very nice and helpful. The location is great but a bit scary at night. Very noisy outside being so close to 4th. Yelling and drunks late (or early). Not much you can do about that except change locations. The breakfast was great...but The Voyager has all that and is $89 a night....I will be staying there next time.

personable people, harsh manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/06
the front desk ladies (and gentleman) were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great! There were a few times I noticed the manager getting upset with the front desk people over minimal stuff. They seemed to be working hard and doing more than you normally see front desk people do. The rooms were plush and comfortable, a great deal with the web special.

I love it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/22/05
Though it can be a bit pricey in the summer, I love this hotel and only stay here when I come to Anchorage. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the breakfast in the morning is huge... make your own waffles! I'm regularly upgraded to a suite in the off season. It's great... It's also the perfect location (right in the center of downtown Anchorage!)

Scary experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/05
WE checked in late at night. When we got to the room they had assigned us and opened the door it was laready occupied. They ended up giving us another room and giving us a master key to the hotel (they still use real keys instead of electronic locks). They didn't have keys to our room which meant someone else did. We were nrevous all night. We checked out the next morning and moved to a hotel down the street that was lovely - I can't remember the name though. There is also no A/C.
