Left us feeling tricked and cheated

We paid for a reserved space at the lodge at a trade show. When we called to set-up the details of the trip we had a hard time getting a return call. When we finally got a hold of someone, we were snapped at and told that the location was frozen and would need to thaw- something we were told usually happens after our winter special travel voucher expired. On the plus side, I was told they would honor our voucher during the next off-season after I pressed for their plans to accommodate travelers who had prepaid.
Unexpected travel complications due to the weather can be part of the fun. If we have been called or notified about the change in their ability to host guests and offered an extension on our travel voucher upfront or offered a refund, we would have been happy and flexible. As it is, I would recommend other lodges in the area.
