Would not go back.
Stay in room for $150.00 a night, you would expect a coffee maker atleast, but no such luck at this resort. They nickle and dime you. Parking cost $25.00 a night, no coffee maker, internet cost $10.00 a day, the rooms are not even that good. Although pillows were nice. Maybe great for family that doesn't want to explore San Diego and just stay at the resort. At 6:00am they start the blower to clean the sidewalks on a weekend. After three days and over $600.00 we left and stayed at a Express Holiday Inn, much better deal. You get a coffee maker, free internet access in your room, extra pillows, free breakfast, larger room, more tv stations, and a very friendly staff. We travel every year, Hawaii, Key West, Mexico, San Diego, LA, ect. We will not go back nor recommend this resort.

Great view Worse Service
By Enam, 09/26/09
First time we stayed, A/C was broken, they told us to keep the doors and window open and Icing on A/C will get better which was a problem from previous guest. After I screamed, they moved me to a different room. Lock on the sliding door was broken. After I complained, they gave me a free room. 6 months later we went and stayed their electronic door lock locked us out. It was not the card, it was actual door lock. Security guy came middle of the night to let us in, we were told not to leave the room otherwise we will be locked out and there are no engineers til morning. In the morning we waited to see if we could leave the room to go have breakfast, no one ever contacted us if they fixed the lock or not. We left.

Won't Be Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/09
We stayed Tues through Friday nights. The grounds are beautiful, no question. The room was nice enough, but we did have to request pillows, blankets, towels, glasses (an ice bucket is provided, but no glasses!) and our water heater had to be adjusted - it was turned all the way down to "low." Cannot figure out the $25 per day for parking, and yet they have dedicated parking spots! No coffee pot in the room. $4 delivery for room service, PLUS 20% automatic gratuity, small pot of coffee is $9! Food is way, way, way overpriced, but we found it all very tasty. Painfully slow service at Barefoot Grill, even when not crowded. Just hate getting nickel-and-dimed at a higher-end resort ($300/night). The adults only pool has no food or beverage service. $10 each to play mini-golf. We did meet nice people and the staff were all friendly and responsive.

Will not go back
By Mom, 08/18/09
We spent a lot for the 1 bedroom suite. We were very excited to go and when we got there, we were in for a big surprise. The room was very old, the bathtub was pealing, there was no coffee pot, no lotion, and the beach was littered with other guests trash. The seagulls came each morning to sift through the bags of trash, gross! The pull out couch was so old, the kids couldn't even sleep on it, the springs were bad, it sank in the middle. The 3rd day our "ocean front" bay was closed for sanitation reasons. With the prices we paid (over $500 per night) for a "luxury suite" someone should have called to offer to move our room, or they should have at least showed up with the blanket the first night after 2 calls - there were no blankets for the pull out couch in the room. It's a nice property, they really should learn how to make a room nice for their guests. After seeing all the other comments, I wish I would have looked on line before booking this hotel.

Nice resort if you are not picky
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/09
We stayed for three nights. Very expensive place to stay. The landscape is beautiful. The rooms were clean. Our room came with a loud fridge that won't let you sleep, I had to turn it off. Please bring your own cooler. The resort was close to the beach and the pools were heated. There is a lot of families from out of state staying at the resort. They treat it like a vacation. They are loud and let their kids skate board around the resort. Overnight parking is $25 for your own spot. Someone parked in my spot and I had to hassel the frontdesk girl to give me a new spot. The girl was acting like she was doing me a favor. I paid $25 a day for a guaranteed spot and someone from Arizona parked in my spot. There is a general parking area that is free, however I found this out after I paid. Staff was friendly but not realiable. The guy I asked to bring me more towles to my room looked like he just took a bong rip. There is no free continential breakfest. Coffee and donuts is not a lot to ask for if you are paying $700 for three nights. There is a lot of things to do at and around the resort. For example, Sea World, Zoo, Legoland, beach, bike and water craft rentals, downtown and swapmeet. Good place to stay if you are easy going. Book during the weekdays to avoid large crowds.

wonderful place....we loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/09
We loved our stay here...It is a typical resort with higher prices for food etc... But we expected that. The rooms are a little dated but it is a very old property and they are renovating all the rooms in september...so we cant wait to see what they do. The spa was amazing, best facial I have ever had. All in all the place looks like you are in Hawaii and there is so much for the kids to do. This is not your typical hyatt or anything... this is a unique hotel, with bungalow rooms meant for relaxation and escape...so I do not know why people complain about staying there. They would rather be in stuffy hallways and one free standing building I guess. I prefer feeling like I am on an island away from people and the usual smell of a hotel....

Won't even think about going back
By mommie, 07/09/09
Our drive into Vacation Street made us think we should booked for a 2nd night. Only when we entered our great Orchid Room did we realize, we wanted to leave so fast. But since this was done thru priceline and all was paid for and we had nowhere else to go, we had no choice but to stick it out. Where do I start? The first thing we always do when we get into a hotel room and walk around and inspect the place. Here is my list: * children found sand grits in the bed and chairs * DEAD BUGS in the carpet ( i understand this is a lanai room but dead bugs in the carpet is ridiculous) * the sink counter top and dirty from previous users toothpaste droppings * the sink was filthy with the previous users guck and whatever you want to call it (yuck) * Shower curtains were smelly With this much, we were about to leave but by the time my husband and I were done with inspecting we did not notice our children had unpacked and already changed into their bathing suits. Boy do I wish I had left that place. * No coffee pot * No place to hang a towel other than the one towel rod 2 feet above the toilet * Bathroom tiles popping out of the walls ( will attach pic ) * $22 bucks for Parking...be real. We only paid $10 for a hotel right in the middle of Hollywood where there is no parking at all. I can honestly say that the only thing pleasant about this room was it's good shower head. The water came out at a very good pressure. Hey alteast I took a good shower. Even if I was given this room for free...I wouldn't stay there.

Not Returning!
By Marcella, 07/08/09
The service at check in was awful, the carpet was stained and filthy, the wall behind the toilets were water damaged with paint peeling off, the front porch light did not work. The rooms are diffently not worth the price, the front desk puts you on hold and never came back, this all occured over the 4th of July weekend. The Spa does not know how to cut ethnic hair, big mistake for my daughter, I asked before making the appointment and was told yes they do know how.

Not worth it.
By Anita, 07/06/09
We spent July 4, 2009 at Paradise Point Resort in San Diego, the place needs a renovation in and out, the carpet in the room was stained, the furniture needs to be replaced. They charge extra for the parking. The Barefoot Bar & Grill is the only restaurant available during the day, it was over priced and the food was was below average. There was a morning coffee cart which always had a line and after paying $14.00 for two cups and two pastries, all we got was a luke warm cup of coffee. The employees were helpful and friendly. We rented a boat at the hotel dock and thought we would enjoy the afternoon on the water, except we ran out of gas in the middle of bay, and had to be towed back! They were so busy they forgot to check the fuel. After paying $280 a night, the only regret was, we didn't stay at the Hyatt down the road for less.

Not What We Expected
By Jeff and LoreleiD, 06/08/09
The property is beautiful. Like a Hawaiin vacation... without the music though. Way too quite there. We booked our room through an outside travel agency (room 719) it was in the farthest corner of the property and it felt like the least cleaned one there too. I believe that the price is the same for being in the farthest corner vs. being closer to the water or pool or even anything else at all! Walked in the room and it was very stuffy and smelled old and musky. Decor was like 1980's beach. Remote control was sticky and when we cleaned it off with white wash cloth- the cloth was so dirty that my husband just stuck it in the trash. Towels were very scratchy (but they did seem clean). Shower had random hairs in it and you could tell when you turned on the faucet in the tub that it had not been turned on in awhile. Very old tub!!! rust coming out of overflow drain. Shower head not in the middle of the shower...which made for an awkward shower experience. Hot water only lasted enough for one shower. Floor in bathroom had random black chunks all over it and the door jams and base boards had weird reddish color spots... Patio chairs and patio were filthy. Covered in dust and bird poop as well leaves everywhere. Furniture was very old and chair pads were unravelling. Bed made bad squicky sound when even just sitting on it. Air conditioner unit so loud... in room fridge also very loud. Previous guests itenerary was left in the room (from Mid May). Ok good things- the bed was actually comfortable. Blow dry was high powered for being so small. surroundings were peaceful.. like the ducks and birds signing. Staff was very nice and helpful. Coffee cart guy was awesome. Property smelled great...lots of flowers! And check out was at noon! This was supposed to be a romantic weekend for our first anniversary. My husband was very upset that he spent so much money and he felt like he was really let down by the quality of the room! I felt bad for him...putting in the effort and having this really low quality room. Great resort but crappy room! Oh and you have to pay for parking. $18 a night or something! Here is some more money....! Upon check out we realized that there is a general parking lot...that was NOT offered to us as an option instead of paying! We may stay here again if we have an ocean view or something darn close and we inspect the room first! We were there the weekend of June 5th-7th.
