Absolutely read these reviews before booking!!!!!!
Paradise Point looks beautiful in pictures and from far away, but up close, it is NOT nearly worth what the resort charges per night. We used various special offers (conference and credit card member rates), and got great deals on all our rooms for a 1-week stay. The rooms were spacious and fairly clean. Pools were adequate/small, and all the "recreations" had a sky-high deposit. Parking was close enough, but the roadways in the different villages are worse than a bumper car course! In truth, Paradise Point Resort reminded my family of an older Hawaiian hotel - insane charges for the ambiance, but no real substance or bang for your buck.
A few times we took advantage of the water taxi to Sea World, which was fun and convenient enough, but honestly overpriced as the park tickets were sold at face value so there was no real 'savings' by buying from the resort. The nightly Sea World fireworks are fairly visible from the entrance to the resort and from the observation tower by the lobby. We also ate at the Barefoot Bar and Grill three different times (for breakfast, for drinks and appetizers, and ordered room service). This place is.... again, adequate. Serves a purpose, but you better bring your patience along with enough money to pay the bill. Food is subpar and service is slow, but it IS all delivered with a smile.
My group of 7 people (ranging from ages 2 - 70) stayed in 3 adjoining rooms in the Hibiscus Village (where you see and hear EVERY car that enters and leaves the resort). Each room either had plumbing that leaked, tile that was uneven, missing door screens that let in huge mosquitos; and ALL the rooms had phones that didn't work right, hotel tv menus that never functioned (we couldn't even check out from our room!), and old fridges and microwaves that should have been replaced 5 years ago. Rooms were cleaned daily, but at various hours, and we never had the same maid twice. However, there were plenty of times when other cleaning staff dropped by to chat while the maid worked (while we were sitting outside with little kids, waiting for the room to be done!). Cleaning staff also drove their carts way too fast, all while chatting on their phones. The bathrooms were also very small and sparce, almost like a motel room bath (in fact, one of our rooms didn't even have a door closing off the bath/toilet area from the sink!). For as much as the grounds staff mowed the grass (which we could hear for hours and hours in the afternoons - NOT at all a quiet and tranquil resort!), there were huge spiderwebs everywhere - on the flowers, all over the patio furniture, along the gates, etc. Seriously? THIS is what the resort is charging almost $400 a night for?!??!
If you're still going to book at this resort after reading these reviews, do yourself a favor and make sure you snag a good deal from Priceline or Expedia. By no means is Paradise Point Resort a bad place, there are just much better and smarter options for spending your money if you do your homework. Paradise Point needs to seriously fix the problems at this resort. My family doesn't regret staying here, but we're definitely not planning to return any time soon.
