Dream Vacation
the chabby chic style took a little getting used to but the tropical atmosphere was very relaxing. It was our first trip to California and we can't wait to go back. My daughter was infatuated with John & Kate plus 8 and they had stayed there many times; so she HAD to stay at this resort. I love the bungallows and the lanai.

Absolutely read these reviews before booking!!!!!!
Paradise Point looks beautiful in pictures and from far away, but up close, it is NOT nearly worth what the resort charges per night. We used various special offers (conference and credit card member rates), and got great deals on all our rooms for a 1-week stay. The rooms were spacious and fairly clean. Pools were adequate/small, and all the "recreations" had a sky-high deposit. Parking was close enough, but the roadways in the different villages are worse than a bumper car course! In truth, Paradise Point Resort reminded my family of an older Hawaiian hotel - insane charges for the ambiance, but no real substance or bang for your buck. A few times we took advantage of the water taxi to Sea World, which was fun and convenient enough, but honestly overpriced as the park tickets were sold at face value so there was no real 'savings' by buying from the resort. The nightly Sea World fireworks are fairly visible from the entrance to the resort and from the observation tower by the lobby. We also ate at the Barefoot Bar and Grill three different times (for breakfast, for drinks and appetizers, and ordered room service). This place is.... again, adequate. Serves a purpose, but you better bring your patience along with enough money to pay the bill. Food is subpar and service is slow, but it IS all delivered with a smile. My group of 7 people (ranging from ages 2 - 70) stayed in 3 adjoining rooms in the Hibiscus Village (where you see and hear EVERY car that enters and leaves the resort). Each room either had plumbing that leaked, tile that was uneven, missing door screens that let in huge mosquitos; and ALL the rooms had phones that didn't work right, hotel tv menus that never functioned (we couldn't even check out from our room!), and old fridges and microwaves that should have been replaced 5 years ago. Rooms were cleaned daily, but at various hours, and we never had the same maid twice. However, there were plenty of times when other cleaning staff dropped by to chat while the maid worked (while we were sitting outside with little kids, waiting for the room to be done!). Cleaning staff also drove their carts way too fast, all while chatting on their phones. The bathrooms were also very small and sparce, almost like a motel room bath (in fact, one of our rooms didn't even have a door closing off the bath/toilet area from the sink!). For as much as the grounds staff mowed the grass (which we could hear for hours and hours in the afternoons - NOT at all a quiet and tranquil resort!), there were huge spiderwebs everywhere - on the flowers, all over the patio furniture, along the gates, etc. Seriously? THIS is what the resort is charging almost $400 a night for?!??! If you're still going to book at this resort after reading these reviews, do yourself a favor and make sure you snag a good deal from Priceline or Expedia. By no means is Paradise Point Resort a bad place, there are just much better and smarter options for spending your money if you do your homework. Paradise Point needs to seriously fix the problems at this resort. My family doesn't regret staying here, but we're definitely not planning to return any time soon.

My daughter and I spent 4 days at the Paradise Point, contrary to previous reviews our visit was clean, modern rooms, and everyone was very helpful. I would definitely return!

A peaceful retreat!
By Dee, 4/10/10
I really liked this resort. We had two teenagers and I 4 year old and they all had a blast. The rooms were clean, and newly renovated, everything was in good working condition and the staff were great. The combination of having 5 pools to chose from or just going to the beach at the resort was wonderful! We did both and the kids loved it! Yeah there is a parking fee, and yes prices are at a resort rate, but I knew that going in! Overall, if you like beautiful landscaped grounds, lots of things to do as well as a quite resort, this is a great place to go!

Would not go back.
By Stacy Pedersen, 9/26/09
Stay in room for $150.00 a night, you would expect a coffee maker atleast, but no such luck at this resort. They nickle and dime you. Parking cost $25.00 a night, no coffee maker, internet cost $10.00 a day, the rooms are not even that good. Although pillows were nice. Maybe great for family that doesn't want to explore San Diego and just stay at the resort. At 6:00am they start the blower to clean the sidewalks on a weekend. After three days and over $600.00 we left and stayed at a Express Holiday Inn, much better deal. You get a coffee maker, free internet access in your room, extra pillows, free breakfast, larger room, more tv stations, and a very friendly staff. We travel every year, Hawaii, Key West, Mexico, San Diego, LA, ect. We will not go back nor recommend this resort.

Great view Worse Service
By Bill M., 9/26/09
First time we stayed, A/C was broken, they told us to keep the doors and window open and Icing on A/C will get better which was a problem from previous guest. After I screamed, they moved me to a different room. Lock on the sliding door was broken. After I complained, they gave me a free room. 6 months later we went and stayed their electronic door lock locked us out. It was not the card, it was actual door lock. Security guy came middle of the night to let us in, we were told not to leave the room otherwise we will be locked out and there are no engineers til morning. In the morning we waited to see if we could leave the room to go have breakfast, no one ever contacted us if they fixed the lock or not. We left.

Won't Be Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/09
We stayed Tues through Friday nights. The grounds are beautiful, no question. The room was nice enough, but we did have to request pillows, blankets, towels, glasses (an ice bucket is provided, but no glasses!) and our water heater had to be adjusted - it was turned all the way down to "low." Cannot figure out the $25 per day for parking, and yet they have dedicated parking spots! No coffee pot in the room. $4 delivery for room service, PLUS 20% automatic gratuity, small pot of coffee is $9! Food is way, way, way overpriced, but we found it all very tasty. Painfully slow service at Barefoot Grill, even when not crowded. Just hate getting nickel-and-dimed at a higher-end resort ($300/night). The adults only pool has no food or beverage service. $10 each to play mini-golf. We did meet nice people and the staff were all friendly and responsive.

Will not go back
By Mom, 8/18/09
We spent a lot for the 1 bedroom suite. We were very excited to go and when we got there, we were in for a big surprise. The room was very old, the bathtub was pealing, there was no coffee pot, no lotion, and the beach was littered with other guests trash. The seagulls came each morning to sift through the bags of trash, gross! The pull out couch was so old, the kids couldn't even sleep on it, the springs were bad, it sank in the middle. The 3rd day our "ocean front" bay was closed for sanitation reasons. With the prices we paid (over $500 per night) for a "luxury suite" someone should have called to offer to move our room, or they should have at least showed up with the blanket the first night after 2 calls - there were no blankets for the pull out couch in the room. It's a nice property, they really should learn how to make a room nice for their guests. After seeing all the other comments, I wish I would have looked on line before booking this hotel.

Nice resort if you are not picky
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/09
We stayed for three nights. Very expensive place to stay. The landscape is beautiful. The rooms were clean. Our room came with a loud fridge that won't let you sleep, I had to turn it off. Please bring your own cooler. The resort was close to the beach and the pools were heated. There is a lot of families from out of state staying at the resort. They treat it like a vacation. They are loud and let their kids skate board around the resort. Overnight parking is $25 for your own spot. Someone parked in my spot and I had to hassel the frontdesk girl to give me a new spot. The girl was acting like she was doing me a favor. I paid $25 a day for a guaranteed spot and someone from Arizona parked in my spot. There is a general parking area that is free, however I found this out after I paid. Staff was friendly but not realiable. The guy I asked to bring me more towles to my room looked like he just took a bong rip. There is no free continential breakfest. Coffee and donuts is not a lot to ask for if you are paying $700 for three nights. There is a lot of things to do at and around the resort. For example, Sea World, Zoo, Legoland, beach, bike and water craft rentals, downtown and swapmeet. Good place to stay if you are easy going. Book during the weekdays to avoid large crowds.

wonderful place....we loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/09
We loved our stay here...It is a typical resort with higher prices for food etc... But we expected that. The rooms are a little dated but it is a very old property and they are renovating all the rooms in september...so we cant wait to see what they do. The spa was amazing, best facial I have ever had. All in all the place looks like you are in Hawaii and there is so much for the kids to do. This is not your typical hyatt or anything... this is a unique hotel, with bungalow rooms meant for relaxation and escape...so I do not know why people complain about staying there. They would rather be in stuffy hallways and one free standing building I guess. I prefer feeling like I am on an island away from people and the usual smell of a hotel....
