An absolute gem
By ,
I do not get the down reviews. This place is immaculately clean and absolutely beautiful. The staff is very courteous. If you like mid mod cool and peace and quiet this place is for you. The views are breathtaking and downtown is just a few blocks away. We will beck.

Good location - bad hotel
By ,
A small hotel (12 rooms?) well located near downtown Palm Springs. But this place is old, rather run down and hasn’t had many improvements, hence the rooms lack the modern amenities common in most hotels. The bathrooms are tiny with no counter space, and you have to wait for the water to run hot. The walls are thin so you hear the TV and even conversations in the adjoining rooms. Old, single-pane windows let the street noise through and can be chilly at night. I came to get some quiet reading time in the sun, so what bothered me the most was the 40s music they insist on playing around the hotel and pool area – so loud it can be heard in the rooms. A small pool and a narrow surrounding deck makes it difficult to avoid getting splashed by screaming kids, etc.

New Manager is GREAT!
By ,
I was a little nervous to stay here because of the mixed reviews but am so glad that I did. First of all, the new management is fantastic. Janice and Diana could not do enough for us. After a 3 hour drive in traffic, we were offered complimentary beer and wine upon checking in. The rooms have all been renovated, the new tiles in the bathroom are super cool, and they have a Mid Century Modern look to them. The new lounge furniture at the pool is awesome (better than the Viceroy and Parker pool furniture!). The pool was heated to about 90 which was perfect for the cool nights. We did not want to leave the hotel, so we made some meals in the kitchen in our room and ate by the firepit, but when we did leave, we walked one block and you are on the main drag with all the bars and restaurants right there.....no need to drive. The hotel also offers cool amenities......free use of bikes, free wi-fi, and a great complimentary breakfast (oh yeah, and a nice little happy hour at night). Another nice thing is we made our drinks in our room and brought them out to the pool (sometimes you get tired of paying $14 for a Martini). We booked our next stay when we checked out, you will too.

Majestic View
This quaint boutique hotel provided us a truly amazing surprise. From our balcony lounge chairs we watched the sun rise over the mountain every morning in awe. With complimentary cups of coffee we enjoyed seeing the mountain literally change colors as the sun moved across the sky. The view was a bonus added to our already great experience. The location is as good as it gets and the hotel service was superior. We also appreciated and enjoyed the retro decor and rat pack themed rooms. Shuffleboard anyone? Also a great value. We will definitely return!

Old School Fun
By ,
Loved this place, the people are so kind and everyone around the pool was warm, friendly and fun. I loved the rooms, the retro effect and the wonderful decor. Yes, it's not very fancy, but I thought the 99.00 price was reasonable - especially considering the locale. We could walk to any of the "hot" spots in Palm Springs and DID! After that, we played scrabble by the pool, enjoyed a midnight swim with the neighbor, and woke up late and enjoyed coffee and a mid-morning nap by the pool. A GEM, and I wouldn't change a thing - only add more of the same.

Great as is
By ,
We stayed at the Del Marcos hotel for one week in January 2007. I was attending a conference while my wife enjoyed the R&R. We had a great time at the Del Marcos, a quiet and layed-back place just a block away from the main shopping strip in Palm Springs. Jack was a very attentive and helpful host. We loved relaxing at the pool with Martinis that we prepared with the appropriate bar paraphernalia in the room. The bed was superb, a feature that you'll appreciate particularly when your age is close to that of the songs played at the poolside. Everything was clean, although some parts of the exterior could use some new paint. In all, the Del Marcos is highly recommendable, especially if you like to experience the good of the old days.

It has changed
By ,
Wow. The place has changed and not for the better. It never had room service or bar service, but the service that it did have (such as Joe the manager) is gone. I'm guessing that the new manager handles more than one property, because she is never there. From the looks of things, the only time that you get good service is if you rent out the whole hotel for a wedding or something. Oh, and I called four times trying to make our reservation -and- sent two emails asking to make a reservation. I was finally able to get ahold of someone on my fourth phone call (which was made almost two weeks after my first call). When I did finally speak to someone, she was on a cell phone and must have been in a bad area, as I could barely understand her. No one ever did respond to my two email requests for reservations. This was our fourth and last time that we'll be staying at the Del Marcos. We're gonna pay an extra 20 bucks a night and stay at somewhere like OrbitInn, Movie Colony, or The Horizion. Such a shame.

way overpriced
By ,
Nice little hotel with bad management. Old management was great. This should be a $99.00 hotel. The new managers and direction is to charge big money for small service. No recent work and it's showing. For 99$ they might not be empty half the time. Wake up and stop trying to be something you're not.

Time of my life
By ,
This little Palm Spings Hotel was the most relaxing, special place I have been in a long time. You felt like you were back in old Palm Springs. We attended a wedding at the hotel. The Manager Kimberlee was therer to welcome all of us one by one. What a nice young lady, she asked us what type of music we likedfrom the 50's era. The rooms were fun retro furniture beds soft and comfortable, the pool was a perfect tempreture. We all had a blast. Customer Service and Housekeeping made sure to cater to our needs ,even though we got a little crazy it all worked out. We will be back. There are a couple old items that need to be replaceed, but thats what takes you back to the old days

What happened??!!
By ,
Where did our little desert oasis go? To begin with, the manager Joe Kelly is no longer there. Bad enough because he was a cool person and professional but the new manager Kimberly, although nice, can't run this place. She's hardly ever there and once even didn't serve breakfast. This year was my 5th stay in as many years and I was really put off by the fact that not only was I placed in the wrong room once I got there, Kimberly had me down for the wrong number of nights! My stay was longer than she had me down for! Also, the shower head popped off once I turned on the water and hit me on the head!! Sounds funny - it wasn't!! One reviewer said it - the place really hasn't had any workdone on it in years and it really, really needs it!!
