GREAT PLACE TO STAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/08
I find out about the edwardian hotel through a friend who stayed last summer. I agree completely with him, it is a good value for san francisco for the price and what you get. It is good location, cozy and clean room, and helpful staff. I understand they have only rooms with private bathrooms now after a major renovation this year.I will also recomand it.

typical european hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/08
I stayed at the edwardian hotel, it was a typical boutique hotel, it reminded me of a bed & breakfast I stayed in London last summer. The room is clean, cozy and quiet. I liked the location it is very convenient close to Union square, great restaurant next door. I will difinetely stay at this hotel again, I think it is a good value for San Francisco.

Horrendous
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/08
From the moment we stepped into the Edwardian and could not move in the tiny elevator we knew perhaps this wasn't going to be the greatest of hotels. We were right, on a budget I don't expect the hotel to be amazing but this was certainly not what we had in mind. We could hardly move in our room, it smelled, it had a bathroom bigger than the main room, there was nowhere to put our valuables and the area is questionable to say the least. As young women we felt uncomfortable being out at night but didn't want to be in either, there was a crack in our window and we were overlooking a main road as you can imagine we were woken early by shouting, horns and traffic noise. In conclusion I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and the myth that they can book a shuttle service for guests, don't fall for it, we were charged an additional $14 purely for the hotel staff to ring a shuttle and then we had to pay an additional shuttle price to the driver on top. One to avoid!!!!!

Wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/07
This is a classic European hotel with a heavy European feel. The staff was extreamly helpful and very thouhtful. The rooms that we stayed in offereda nice homey view of Market Street. Centrally located and fabulas food within easy walking distance. Will stay here again.

Once is Enough
By Susan, 04/22/07
Overall I didn't like it. Parking is a nightmare. It isn't safe to stop infront of the hotel to drop off luggage and you have to park around the corner at the paid parking lot that has no in or out priveleges. The room was small but okay. There were no face cloths and there was mold up on the ceiling and paintabove the tile in the bathroom with some mold in the bedroom. If you don't like noise don't stay there because Market St is always busy. It was a little frustrating when guests added to that noise by yelling int he hallway late at night. Staff was not unfriendly, they were cordial. It would have beeb better had they let us know that there was a room for coffee and a sitting room available. They did not inspire conversation or make us feel like they were glad they had guests. They were simply there. If you just like cheap, fairly clean, and to be totally ignored, stay at the Edwardian otherwise look elsewhere like we will.

Homey place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/07
Great location, surrounded by wonderful restaurants and close to public transportation. I've read some reviews that state they had a bad experience, but I tink that they are the exception, not the rule as I stay here every year for an extended period. As with most places in SF, the rooms are smaller, but they are clean and there are 2 different sitting rooms (free coffee and tea in one, view of Market street in the other) for those who come to this wonderful city to sit around their hotel. I highly recommend it to people for the price.

Very nice staff
By Regular Customer, 11/21/06
The hotel was immaculately clean, and the staff was wonderously helpful at all times. It has some very small rooms, but overall for the price it is hard to beat. There are some wonderful places to eat nearby and it's a quick walk to the symphony and the opera. David the manager was especially kind and helpful to me.

never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/06
the staff was rude and matter-of-fact in addressing problems (which started at my check-in). The bedding was not clean and towels appeared to have been used. They only turn the heat on for a short interval at night and the carpet looked and smelled as if it had been used under street traffic. I was forced to seek other lodging due to unbearable conditions and the Edwardian informed me that i still had to pay. i had to call my credit card company to have the charges removed.
