waaaay too expensive

We were told we'd have a lake view but oops, they booked up quickly and we lost out. That meant we stared out at the office building directly behind the hotel and a roof full of exhausts and equipment. This awful sight is euphemistically referred to as "city view."
Everything is far too expensive for the quality. We ate at their restaurant, The Wave. It looks very trendy and modern but the food is strictly hit and miss. I had a glass of mediocre house champagne for $15.00. We spent $100 for a skimpy, pretentious meal.
The room decor is laughable. There were exactly two pieces of "art." One was sticks in a frame and the other consisted of a cup with pods standing up in it. The lighting came from three light bulbs with pieces of cloth hanging around their frames. It looked like an amateur's attempt at being avant garde.
The bathroom was separated from the bed area by wooden shutters! How bizarre. That meant there was no real privacy. No exhaust fan or heat lamp in the bathroom, either. One robe for two guests. The bathroom lighting was impossible.
The beds had one sheet and a bedspread.
No blanket. We've all heard that hotel bedspreads are filled with traces of unspeakable microorganisms but you couldn't very well remove them and stay warm.
We didn't get much sleep because the doors at the end of the hall slammed loudly at all hours of the night.
I'd say this hotel thinks it's hot and happening but it's just a giant rip off. We will never stay there again.
