Would Never Stay There Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/12
I had a very negative experience during my recent stay here, and would not stay again. First, when we called ahead to find out if parking was available, we spoke to a woman answering the phone who told us that parking was available at a low price. When we arrived, however, they told us that no parking was available, (and we thus had to spend almost half of the hotel rate on parking in a nearby site). They also denied that any women worked at the front desk or answered the phone, although the following morning there in fact was a woman answering the phone. In addition, they were very rude to us. In spite of the fact that we were obviously a couple, they gave us a room with two single beds, and although we immediately asked to change, and had been in the room only one minute, they sent someone to inspect the room before we could get another room. The room we ended up with was in poor condition, the bed was just two single beds pushed together, and the curtains were damaged so the light came into the room and we slept very poorly. The location of this hotel is excellent, there is some beautiful features in the lobby and stairs, and we enjoyed breakfast at the rooftop restaurant, but with the extra money we spent on parking we could have stayed at any of the many other hotels in the same neighborhood for a higher price, and even hotels that cost half as much have rooms in better condition. Worth coming in to see the old tilework and the rooftop restaurant, but if you want to be treated with hospitality or sleep in a comfortable room, this isn't the place

Biggest disappointment of our entire trip!
By mikey, 1/19/10
Only the location was okay but so are others. Nothing was there for us to like about - the buffet lunch was a big big disappointment with terrible food and service and made us decide not to have the new year's eve dinner there. The first night, had a room which smelt of cigarette smoke with ripped carpets and water seeping out from under the sink. The next day (New Year's eve) had a difft room but the shower tub would not drain and made a few calls for it to be attended to but no one came up. In frustration went to lobby and created a fuss after which a plumber was sent up and attended to it. Defintely not a 4 star hotel and some other 2 star hotels seem to provide better service and amenities. Stayed at the Hotel Catedral earlier on that trip and thought for new year would like to try the Majestic but that was the biggest mistake of the entire one month trip. Not only was it too expensive, it was not worth it. Will never recommend this hotel to anyone! And I wonder what Best Western has got to say!!

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/07
The location is excellent. The breakfast buffet and evening cocktails from roof are excellent. But it is one of the most over-priced, for what you get, values in Mexico. Hot water only in mornings, broken lamps and overall rundown appearance of rooms was a great disappointment and embarrassment to me in selecting this location for a recent group tour. You'd be much better off staying at a nearby hotel such as Hotel Catedral and coming to the Majestic for a drink.

my downtown favorite
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
splendid hotel for non-typical "tourist" who wants everything at his doorstep for individual discovery. A bit oldish, but bearable because compensated by friendly service, good food and great view.

Best location imaginable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/07
We stayed here just after Christmas, with all the decorations still up in Zocala and every night a festival. The restaurant has a superb view, and breakfast is especially lovely as the bells of the Catedral begin to ring in the morning. Though our room was basic and clean, the hotel itself is a superb example of Colonial architecture, with antique glass, tiles and ironwork just everywhere, and the atrium trilling with tiny caged birds. Helpful staff in the main, with especially charming boys manning the lifts and helping illiterate guests like ourselves gain the rudiments of Spanish. The food was good, the buffet breakfast especially. Was too dark to see what I had ordered the first night; turned out to be a classic error of judgement: seafood in chocolate sauce. Have still not stopped laughing. Would most definitely go there again. Loved it. AJ & UY

Careful of Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/24/06
Student spanish group stayed at this hotel. A male hotel maintenance employee was stalking one of the girls in our group. He kept getting into close contact with her in his ploy to "fix a lamp" that had already been fixed earlier that day but needed to "check on it". Later that night after he finally left, the girl received a phone call, originating with the hotel, from the guy saying her name in his accent (he said it really weird) and said "I love you baby" Be cautious of children. Other than that, good hotel. great location, and relatively nice hotel for being mexico city

Great Location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/05
The Best Western Majestic was where I stayed on my first ever trip to Mexico, and it didnt' disappoint. The location is what deserves to be recognized...you can't do better. The views are absolutely breathtaking. I also enjoyed the stained-glass ceiling-very beautiful. As is typical of Mexican hotels the staff were very courteous and helpful. I would definetely reccommend this hotel to anyone wanting to experience Mexico City. And don't miss having a great meal on the balcony restaurant.
