The Convent Hotel Amsterdam - MGallery Collection, Amsterdam

I visited Amsterdam in July 2004 and stayed at this hotel. Being unfamiliar with the city, I randomly chose a hotel. Upon departure I knew I had made a great choice. The Sofitel provided very comfortable, clean and unique rooms in a wonderful historical setting. Every morning they offered a buffet breakfast and newspapers. The staff was extremely friendly. They took the time to answer any questions I had about the city, places to see, transportaion, etc. The staff was always available and there was never a wait at the front desk to exchange currency or ask questions. Short day excursions could be booked at the front desk and the bus picks you up right outside the door. The location is prefect! It was just blocks away from Dam Square, the Royal Palace, Magna Plaza, Central Station and the Red light district. The very efficient public transportation system runs directly in front of the hotel. Many great small pubs are located all throughout this area, along with cafes and restaurants. The quality of the hotel and the great location make this a top choice for places to stay in this fantastic city.
